Samsung and their bloatware is horrid

iPhones suck

I just figured it had been a while since we had an Apple vs. Android fanboi banter Tongue

From everything I read online, stock android is the only way to go it still sucks compared to iOS.

Yeah Google is also a internet search and software company, not so much on the strengths with the hardware.  Operating system is only one piece of making a successful cell phone.  Samsung has been doing it for a long time.  Apple is even buying most of their hardware directly from Samsung! Tongue

The best way to go is a rooted Android, but that's neither here nor there.

For real though.  "To improve battery life"?  How many times do you think that idea went around the marketing meeting before they were like "welp, that's the best we got"

Considering all of my issues are likely due to software problems, the hardware is irrelevant in this conversation.

Possibru, but hardware and software coming together not harmoniously is what usually makes battery life the suck

How are sound bars hooked up nowadays? Optical?

Easy button. A few of us on here have this. The satellite rear speakers plug into the subwoofer. Great budget system for everyday TV watching/movies. I rarely game anymore.

Seriously though. I miss my S5 for that reason. Was still waterproof and had removable battery. Why is that so difficult?

The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - JustinG - 12-21-2017

It has to cost more to manufacture the phone with a removable back vs one solid unit?

Most people upgrade in 2 years anyway, so no need to replace a battery.

I'll be the counterpoint to Lee slobbing on Samsung's knob - the three Samsung phones I had were complete suckitude and it was due to the software being overbloated trash. Gorgeous hardware with some clever touches, for sure. But they have a history of taking stock Android, running it through a paper shredder, and selling it - and even on Android 7.x, it was bad.

I should not have five seconds of lag where I see that someone is calling me, but I cannot answer the phone. I should not have a "flagship" smartphone that will go through all the motions of taking a photo and then never save it anywhere. Why did my "flagship" smartphone have the front-facing camera quality of a Logitech QuickCam? How did Samsung shove a 4,000 mah battery in their S7 Active and overload the software such that my 1,900 mah iPhone 8 battery can last longer?

Those were my biggest complaints, but by and large, ownership was frustrating as fuck. I considered a Pixel 2 but figured I'd just end up having different issues. The iPhone has been entirely boring and rock-solid. I see why people buy Accords now.

Sounds like you were holding it wrong.

It will be until Apple decides they don't want it to be anymore :p

Such a misleading headline and argument against the IPhone. I guess “Old IPhones get slower as their batteries wear out to prevent voltage surges, but are as fast as new if you replace the battery” wouldn’t get as many clicks.

RE: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - Apoc - 12-23-2017

You forgot the words "sealed case" in your headline.

RE: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - ViPER1313 - 12-23-2017

I have to give you a  Huh cause I’m not following you. The case of an IPhone is no more sealed than any other phone with an internal battery. Very few phones still have battery covers.

RE: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - Apoc - 12-23-2017

Other phones don't make headlines for the manufacturer slowing them down because of the battery.

RE: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - WRXtranceformed - 12-25-2017

Well Apple is getting sued for it though, so

I got a chance to try out the QC35s and the Sonys at the Best Buy in Leesburg. To me the QC35 wins hands down. I will say the sound quality of the Sonys are great and the "hand over the ear" feature was very cool, but the QC35s definitely have better noise cancelling (which has come a long way from the last pair I had) and they are way more comfortable and lighter on my big ole head. I'll definitely be scooping a pair of the Bose before my travel schedule spins up for 2018.

So the kids Fire tablet has gone full retard. Not detecting SD card, needing to connect to the internet to verify apps, random reboots, etc.

Probably taking this opportunity to upgrade Casey's Ipad, and let the kid have her Mini 2 with Retina, which I think is what they call the 3 now?

No need for the pro, but any things I should watch out for between the iPad and mini 4? Only difference is A9 vs A8 chip and size right?

RE: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - WRXtranceformed - 01-02-2018

Any recommendations for a good wireless keyboard / mouse combo? My logitechs are finally giving up the ghost I think.

Company is paying and I don't have a budget limit from them but I'd like to keep it +/- $100 for both as a package. So no like gaming keyboards or anything. I test drove a bunch at Best Buy the other day and it got a little overwhelming.

What I'd like:
- quiet typing
- easy to clean (I'm somewhat of a germaphobe and my current keyboard has manual keys that collect junk all up under them that I can't really clean)
- long battery life on keyboard, rechargeable mouse is ideal

I bought this for my living room HTPC, works well enough, good range, and cheap. For everything else I still use cords.
