RE: Automotive News Discussion - Jake - 12-18-2018 (12-18-2018, 03:04 PM)Senor_Taylor Wrote: So... You're saying you can tow a race car with this.... Ted Britt Ford's service department is open til 8 PM and they have a big loaner fleet. Avoid Jerry's or the one in Falls Church. And yeah, it'd easily pull a green E36 on an open trailer. RE: Automotive News Discussion - .RJ - 12-18-2018 I do like the new ranger. Dont need a truck tho. RE: Automotive News Discussion - Kaan - 12-18-2018 years ago they claimed the Tundra was a 5/8 ton competing with the 1/2 tons. These new "1/4 ton" trucks are like 7/16th ton trucks. 1/2 tons of today are towing more than 1 ton trucks of the 90s... this is a serious arms race (and the cost is showing it). RE: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 12-18-2018 Really digging the stlye of the Ranger. I think it's much better looking than the Colorado although I don't hate the Colorado at all. RE: Automotive News Discussion - Evan - 12-18-2018 I liked the Ranger until I saw that a mid spec truck costs $38k. Nope. The Z71 Colorado stickers for around $36k. You don't even get full leather seats at that price. Leather trimmed with cloth inserts. The incentives on full size trucks make more sense to go that way. Chevy was offering like $11k off a Silverado in November. Nope. I paid $24k for my brand new midspec V8 Titan with tow and bed packages in 2006. Id love to put it out to pasture and buy one of these midsize trucks to do double duty as daily driver and truck stuff, but I really cant justify paying $38k+ for a vehicle that is less equipped than my 6 year old $30k Mazda. RE: Automotive News Discussion - .RJ - 12-19-2018 I'm assuming those prices are inflated MSRP's and you can get $10k off in incentives.... If not, fuck that noise. My Ridgeline (with leather!) was $26k, although it was a year old leftover w/ incentives to move it off the lot. Chevy only offers incentives on the Silverado and larger trucks. I would assume Ford will do the same. Automotive News Discussion - ViPER1313 - 12-19-2018 Yea, truck prices are high. My buddy just paid ~23g for a 2018 Tacoma WT (SR trim) w/ RWD and 0 options, and that is 4g under MSRP. Almost like they decided to sell early 2000's F150s again. RE: Automotive News Discussion - Senor_Taylor - 12-19-2018 (12-19-2018, 09:17 AM)ViPER1313 Wrote: Yea, truck prices are high. I was told full stop that there were no incentives on third gen Tacomas when I was shopping. Maybe I suck at buying cars. RE: Automotive News Discussion - Sijray21 - 12-19-2018 that's a pretty undesirable truck (when you factor the trim/options), i'm not surprised that the discount was there. it may have been on the lot being a bare bones tacoma. NFW i'd even pay $23k for that truck... i'd rather get a frontier at that price point (i think similar trim is $19k). If you're going to buy a brand new 2006 Frontier, why not save a bunch of money and just buy a 2006 Frontier? Quote:And there hasn't been much growth in full-size trucks either. Here's the '98 F-150 compared to the '18 F-150, SuperCab/6.5' bed 4x4 model (Supercrew/5.5' is identical): My truck feels huge but I know the styling has something to do with it. The titan was bad enough with the cheap plastic. i can't imagine the frontier... if i had to go truck i'd just get a used 2015 F150 4WD Crew (probably the same price as a new tacoma). The titan was bad enough with the cheap plastic. i can't imagine the frontier... You could do a few-options brand-new F150 for like $24k OTD. When I bought my gray 2011 in 2016, I almost bought a new XLT instead. I think the negotiated price after incentives (rebates are HUGE on the XLT trim) was about $23,700 or so. No point in used trucks in some cases. Automotive News Discussion - ViPER1313 - 12-19-2018 His exact truck : https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/740079525/overview?aff=share_other I wasn’t being sarcastic; I agree 100% that 23-25 large for a 0 option 4 cylinder RWD WT is a lot of $$. In 1997 you could get a base S10 pickup for 12g. Adjusting for inflation that is a bit under 19g today. The main issue is that people expect trucks to be both a luxury people hauler and a work vehicle and are paying stupid money for High Country Platinum Limited Premium trim levels on 8 year loans. The content of base trucks has also risen significantly over what used to be considered a normal option selection. The comments above prove this. For most people, a RWD truck with AC / Bluetooth / Power Windows / Power Locks and 4 doors is really all they need, but “it’s just $100 more a month if I get leather LED navigation dick warmers too!” |
