I didn't like the leather part that fits over the bezel, that's why I didn't go with something like the Roocase. But if that's not an issue that'd be an even better buy.

They announced the Transformer Prime today. I wonder if the old dock will work with the Prime. I would think so.

Quote: your old Transformer dock won't be compatible

Quote:At 8.3mm (0.33 inches) thick and 586 grams (1.29 pounds) without the dock, it's a smidge skinnier than the iPad 2 and Galaxy Tab 10.1, which means, unsurprisingly, that your old Transformer dock won't be compatible.
Sounds like no, but maybe Engadget is just guessing.

Man I might have to sell my Transformer while prices are still good and pick this up.

reading > me

The dock and charging mechanism look identical, so who knows. If not, I'll just stick with my T101.

Accessories are where the big profit margins are, of course they are going to make you buy new ones Smile

Tegra 3 looks pretty badass, but im still not convinced a tablet has enough utility to be worth $500
windows 8 may change that, we will see

I've never had to buy new chargers or headphones for my cell phones. Same with accessories for my computers. :dunno:

Wish I hadn't dropped my TF101....not sure it will pull a premium before racewars when it's hard to turn it on and off

So now that both ICS and HC source has been released to the AOSP, Google may proceed with a smaller degree of my hatred. (Still need FOSS Android Market, though!)

you know what i'm really impressed with? kindle fire. as expected.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 11-16-2011

is it hackable yet?

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Mike - 11-16-2011

i don't know. i didn't see a need to do so.

I guess my question should have been, is it worthy as a cheapmans tablet if hacked? or underpowered and just a fancy E-reader?

But you wouldnt know since you havent hacked it......guess ill Google it.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Mike - 11-16-2011

and i kinda meant... it had everything i need in a tablet... i'm not sure what you'd feel the need to add.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 11-16-2011

I don't really see the draw in rooting or jailbreaking. I mean, I guess I can see if you like to tinker but the devices are capable enough to meet most people's needs. What would hacking something like the Fire really buy you?

Just the ability to run the processor at a faster speed then set from the factory, run apps not currently available in the Amazon Market but available in the Android market. Those are the only two reasons I really see/care about. Ive tried the whole custom rom thing on my phone, but just revert back to a stock rom on my phone due to reliability. I do like overclocking the processor though to speed my phone up or declocking to manage the battery when not in use. Apps arent an issue on my phone, but could be on the Fire.

It wasnt really a I wont buy it if I cant root it statement, more so of a curiousity. I thought the user interface was dumbed down just from pictures ive seen and may have effected the capability. Rooting would obviously give you the stock android screens.

I kinda want one now though after reading reviews. I dont need a camera/GPS/3G, I just want something witha simple interface I can stream movies on and surf the interwebs when traveling, take to the kitchen to view a recipe, check email. Price is nice too.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 11-16-2011

I love the rooted TF101. Longer battery life, no bloatware or ads, etc.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 11-16-2011

What kind of battery life are you getting?

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 11-16-2011

I'll have to time it, I just leave it on for days. haha
