Re: Stock Market Thread - WRXtranceformed - 08-04-2011 Haha...no chance I'm selling now! Re: Stock Market Thread - Evan - 08-04-2011 I wish I had the balls to short Re: Stock Market Thread - Apoc - 08-04-2011 See? You shoulda sold! Same principle applies, though. That money is gone, put it where it has the best chance to make it back. Re: Stock Market Thread - WRXtranceformed - 08-04-2011 Why though? I'm in no rush to sell. I could also just wait until the market rebounds and pull some more money out of it. I see your point about putting it elsewhere, but honestly it's not going to sit long enough in the new investments between now and the time I'm going to sell to make a difference. Re: Stock Market Thread - flintster55 - 08-04-2011 Evan Wrote:double dipppp..... Yep exactly. Unless the jobs report tomorrow is anything short of amazing we could be in for a heck of a ride Re: Stock Market Thread - Apoc - 08-04-2011 I'm not willing to take the chance and moved ~70% (up from 25%) of my 401k to bonds. Re: Stock Market Thread - Cody - 08-04-2011 I advise everyone to move their 401k s into the MM trust fund. I promise we'll guard it closely. Note: this may or may not have to develop into a ponzi scheme in order to meet your desired returns. Re: Stock Market Thread - ScottyB - 09-20-2011 shiiiiiit...someone made a metric ass-ton of money right there. Re: Stock Market Thread - Apoc - 09-20-2011 ...aaaaaannnnnd it just dipped below $130. http://www.google.com/finance?client=ob&q=NASDAQ:NFLX Re: Stock Market Thread - BLINGMW - 09-20-2011 are people really expecting netflix to completely die just because they raised their prices a bit? I haven't been doing research on them, but as a consumer... there's really no other movie/streaming service that has near the content that they do. Now this whole "Qwickster" name thing, maybe that's a sign of how mismanaged they really are. :dunno: Re: Stock Market Thread - flintster55 - 09-20-2011 I think it's way oversold. Might have to pick up some Dec 11 calls and see if I'm right Re: Stock Market Thread - Mike - 09-20-2011 nflx is banking on streaming. they have none of the cash their competitors have, which is required for these huge contracts the studios are charging. if any of the competitors actually give it a go, they are fucked. If they do it well.... no guarantee that money = success (see google+) Re: Stock Market Thread - Apoc - 09-20-2011 Amazon is pretty well positioned to fuck them good. Re: Stock Market Thread - HAULN-SS - 09-20-2011 I , for one, welcome our Amazonian overlords. Netflix streaming content has sucked hard for a while now. Re: Stock Market Thread - .RJ - 09-20-2011 Apoc Wrote:Amazon is pretty well positioned to fuck them good. Absolutely, but it wont be cheap for the consumer. Re: Stock Market Thread - Apoc - 09-20-2011 .RJ Wrote:Apoc Wrote:Amazon is pretty well positioned to fuck them good. Are fundamental shifts in media delivery or technology ever cheap for the consumer? Re: Stock Market Thread - .RJ - 09-20-2011 Of course not, but there doesnt need to be a change in delivery or technology, just expand whats already there. Amazon is charging the same price for books electronically as they are in paperback, so I imagine that if they took over the streaming business we'd all be whining about how cheap Netflix was.... and quickly forget about the $6 price hike. If they got the content right, then $20-30 month could be reasonable, at least, to me. I'm about to drop my cable service (Fios TV) so I'm probably right in their wheelhouse. |
