What's the point of a diesel swap when it can only tow 8800lbs in 4x4 trim?  And 1530 payload, yikes,  how are people towing enclosed with these?

what generation are you looking at for these numbers... my 4x4 is rated to 9800lbs.

they are pulling 20-22 foot aluminum enclosed trailers with anit sway hitches

The brand-new Tundra is old and uncompetitive compared to the rest of the market (except the Titan, lol). They can still sell a basic trim for people who think backup cameras are for wimps, but absolutely need to get with the program overall. Good news is the new model really will be "all new" according to a friend within the company, and should be coming soon enough. I think Tundra is 2020 and Tacoma is 2021.

get him to tell you about the diesel and see if I can get a hook up. Smile

Not sure if I love the sound of the new mid engine Corvette:

RE: Automotive News Discussion - ScottyB - 12-07-2018

just a head's up, Ford quietly released the second fastest pickup of all time, and its not even supposed to be a sport truck

https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2019-ford-f-150-limited-by-the-numbers

0-60 in 5.1, quarter in 13.7. i bet if its anything like the other ecoboost engines, a tune and some bolt ons will put in deep in the 12's, all while you can get your leather-cradled grundel air conditioned and massaged while you listen to Yanni in surround sound

Wow. This is also v impressive: 0.82 g

In other words, truck yeah.

Also, ecoboost gas mileage has been heavily inflated in comparison to real world numbers. They've slowly been advertising more realistic numbers though. That's my only complaint about my "older" ecoboost. I get around upper 16s in the winter and mid-upper 17s in the summer. This is 10-15 minute city driving (~3 miles). 20-35 minutes of highway driving (~20 miles). Obviously if I did 60 on the highway I could probably hit 19-20s combined with ease. This thing is brick wall for aero, obviously. Pure highway at 75-80 I can get upper 19s.. Towing open trailer 14s.

Advertised 16/22 or 18 combined for 2014.

RE: Automotive News Discussion - ScottyB - 12-07-2018

yeah you're not going to see decent numbers unless you're running a 2WD empty with highway radials and a 3.27 or lower in the back. for a lot of people that use these as commuters, i think they can pull that off. but anybody who uses it as a truck or uses the 4WD...you're buying it for the power only

RE: Automotive News Discussion - rherold9 - 12-07-2018

Got a chance to watch this and you're wrong, you should feel bad, and love the way that sounds. It's glorious. Kinda viper like while also having higher pitch turbo super car sound at the same time

RE: Automotive News Discussion - Jake - 12-10-2018

My 5.0L (in both 2011 and 2018 form) can/does do 21-22 mpg easily on the highway if unloaded and running 75 mph. Ryan, your squeakoboost should do better than that! I also got 14 mpg with open trailer and currently estimate lolfuckyoutoo mpg with the enclosed. Probably like 10-11.

My gray 2011 was super easy to trail-brake through an off ramp and handled well at VIR. The red 2018 so far also seems to handle far better than anything of its size and heft ought to.

Ecoboosts get notoriously horrible gas mileage towing.  The load of a trailer keeps it in spool a lot which richens the fuel tables. (I assume).

Uh oh for all you guys. Can't say I am surprised. https://jalopnik.com/dead-for-america-2019-bmw-3-series-wagon-1830980704
