Already got Mopar 2" lift and 35s. Sign me the fuck up.

Is this not a bit long for trail riding and whatnot?

its the same between the wheels as a JK 4 door. they have their "limitations" but you just armor up and drag it.

they do have "more" rear overhang... I'm sure someone will come up with something to protect it

I wonder if they got rid of the front stick on this and went with the independent front. Undecided

Nope. Trail riding isn't really all that intense. Somebody will figure out high clearance bumpers or more likely the hardcore guys will bob the rear.

No way. It shares everything the same as the JL. We would have heard about them ditching the live axle up front months ago.

I've been asking for this for a decade.... and now that they do this Toyota is talking diesel tundra.

I don't think we'll see a diesel Toyota for at least another 5 years. I bet you get a diesel in a new Ranger before that.

3-ish years I think. there are still 2022 standards, just lower than the previous number... that could all change in the next election cycle anyway... but the diesel is the ONLY engine they currently make for a truck that meets either of the 2022 standards.

That truck needs a complete overhaul at this point, diesel or not. The brand new ones are effectively the same truck as what you have.

see, I don't think so. the new trucks have SO MUCH more comfort stuff.... plus nav/backup camera/brake controller/etc.

they need to beef up the frame and add the diesel... the 2019 can only tow 10,100lbs... the limitation is the frame I think and the diesel is just icing.

snake around the paddock and see how many 200k mile Tundras are still towing cars to the track. you don't see that out of other gas trucks.

RE: Automotive News Discussion - Jake - 11-29-2018

I mean, any truck will do 200k miles. I think a lot of NASA people get shiny-new-toy syndrome sooner than 200k miles though.

The brand-new Tundra is old and uncompetitive compared to the rest of the market (except the Titan, lol). They can still sell a basic trim for people who think backup cameras are for wimps, but absolutely need to get with the program overall. Good news is the new model really will be "all new" according to a friend within the company, and should be coming soon enough. I think Tundra is 2020 and Tacoma is 2021.

RE: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 11-29-2018

Hmm, if the new Tundra is a 2020 model then they should be showing it fairly soon. Maybe NYIAS if not Detroit.

I'll probe about the diesel next time we see each other. If you want a new truck I can 100% get you in touch with him at whatever point. Got a hookup for Toyota and Ford trucks alike by now and then Jeffypoo in Woodstock has us all covered for Ram/Jeep stuff.

Don't quote me on the release dates, but I'm like 90% sure that's what I heard.

The amount of time and money put into that website to sell 0 of these conversations boggles my mind.

I dunno. Probably $200 bucks worth of effort in spinning up a WP site.

What's the point of a diesel swap when it can only tow 8800lbs in 4x4 trim?  And 1530 payload, yikes,  how are people towing enclosed with these?

RE: Automotive News Discussion - Apoc - 11-29-2018

What Rex said. That's probably a half day of work.

Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 11-29-2018

Damnit guys. Any amount of work or money to peddle that nonsense is too much! I would love to know how many (if any) they have done. I really do not understand who their market is. The tundra is the blandest truck it there. Why would anyone do this
