RE: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 11-17-2018

TRD finally putting some actual performance behind the plasticky fins.  Camry and Avalon seem uh, interesting choices to do it but whatever

Anyone else see the 6 Million Dollar Man Honda commercials?  If that isn't pleading with the old people generation to buy your car I don't know what is  Tongue

I actually like that Jeep Gladiator. Legit towing capacity and it'll probably hold it's value extremely well. Wouldn't be surprised to see it selling so well that dealers mark them up.

For someone who wants a smaller truck that can tow and has a bit of style and offroad ability this would be the ticket. Of course the average buyer is just someone who wants the Jeep look and a truck bed is all the better but I ain't hating.

I would drive this, but I think I if I get another truck it'll be a full size

Haven't seen the Honda commercials but I did drive the 2.0T Accord Sport. That engine (250hp and 270 lb/ft of torque) coupled with the 10 speed transmission was very very impressive for a car in that segment. Power always on tap and actually a decent amount of fun in sport mode using the paddle shifters. The amount of tech/standard equipment was great for the price point as well.

RE: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 11-28-2018

More info on the Jeep Gladiator coming from Truck Trend. As suspected this is a much longer wheelbase than the JL.

Quote:According to Truck Trend’s post, which has since been taken down, the Gladiator’s frame is 31 inches longer than the JL Wrangler Unlimited’s, and the wheelbase is up 19.4 inches. The story also says the larger axles, brakes, and also the 33-inch tires and the suspension are unique to the truck. Truck Trend says the Gladiator will be able to carry 1,650 pounds of payload, with a towing capacity of 7,650 pounds.

Truck Trend also says the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel should come in 2020 with 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft, bolted to an eight-speed auto.
It does look pretty cool with the doors and top removed.

Man I want one. The AEV Jeep trucks always made me happy.

Agreed. I thought it was pretty dumb in my original post and I still believe that 99% will be brodozers, but man does it look cool in Rubicon flare with no doors and top.

Automotive News Discussion - JustinG - 11-28-2018

I've wanted a Jeep, but this gives me a Jeep with the functionality of a truck. Win/Win.

Plus I can put sooooo many LED lightbars on this!

I thought it was illegal to print your own money?

I want to hate it so bad but I want one.

But Im pretty sure the sticker price is going to cure that.

I want to hate it and I do!

That red one is “hawt”.

I am sure it’ll cost 60k, get 10mpg without a trailer and squat like a ford as soon as you put 10lbs on the hitch.

RE: Automotive News Discussion - Jake - 11-29-2018

I like it. Would let me combine my love for convertibles with the towing needs, although it's still probably not enough truck for my trailer. We'll see.

Automotive News Discussion - JustinG - 11-29-2018

Wait for an Overland to come of lease, and I'm in.

Which means I'll have to keep the wagon til 2022ish....guess I'll have to fill that gap with something.

This is pretty much how i feel. I initially thought it was stupid when i heard Jeep was making a Wrangler truck, but after looking at it more it seems pretty sweet. Pretty sure it's going to be ridiculously priced and demand will keep the price up (i'm thinking mid 40s to low 50s, which is stupid expensive).

If i lived in a better climate for a Wrangler (no roof/no doors) i'd seriously consider it.

RE: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 11-29-2018

It would be awesome if it wasn't a Jeep product

Turn the heat and heated seats on, NoVA is pretty accommodating for 'vert weather most days.

RE: Automotive News Discussion - V1GiLaNtE - 11-29-2018

Waiting for 2020 model with diesel. Never buy first model year. This is very high on my buy list and will be test driving when it releases. Fills every need i have.

Already got Mopar 2" lift and 35s. Sign me the fuck up.

I can't wait to see the overland builds people will do on those things.
