RE: Automotive News Discussion - Goodspeed - 10-26-2018

Holy crap, I love it!  The very fact that it looks like a clean 90's concept is why I do - really surprised McLaren put away the chisels and axes for the clay model of this one (the Senna is ass).  I just wish it had the disc wheel covers on the back too to complete the awesomeness (guessing they were just off in this vid to show the wheel design though).  Bravo!

"As elegant as the Senna is ugly" he says...preach brother, preach.

RE: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 10-26-2018

The Senna looks like it's made out of Legos.

RE: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 11-15-2018

In 2020 we will get a whole new level of brodozer. Thanks Jeep!

Quote:According to a screenshot of an information sheet about the new Gladiator posted by the forums, the Gladiator will be capable of 30 inches of water fording, a towing capacity up to 7,650 pounds and a 1,600 payload capacity.

According to the sheet, it will be available with a 3.6-liter V6 or 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6, and can be optioned with either a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic.

Guaranteed to option out at $70k for the deisel and 85% will only use the lockers to get out of dicey outdoor concert parking

But damn FCA knows how to print money

What's the hellcat version going to be called? The Gladiator Throatpunch?

I... kinda like it. It's rated for WAY more towing than a Wrangler which makes me wonder what's different suspension-wise. I think a Wrangler is listed at 2500 lbs or something.

i bet at least half that increase is simply due to additional control with the added wheelbase

The 4-door last-gen Wrangler is already 116" (which is longer than my Range Rover was, by about 3") so I wonder how much longer this is. Maybe 120-something.

Just by the naked eye the wheelbase is much longer than a wrangler. Makes me believe this is built on its own frame and doesn't share that with the wrangler. I could be 100% wrong though. Also I bet that towing capacity is the diesel version.

1st - Really cool. Drop top pickup that can tow an open trailer??!?! Awesome!

2nd - Waiting for the first funny videos of people hauling a load of mulch with the top off and hitting 40mph with all the mulch debris flying forward in their faces.

RE: Automotive News Discussion - Evan - 11-15-2018

Hopefully there will be a non-bro Dodge version. Rebirth of the Dakota?

Chances this Wrangler thing doesn't have a Ram Frame under it?

The shortest Ram 1500 lists a 140" wheelbase, which strikes me as too long for something that looks like a Wrangler and will likely be expected to off-road at least somewhat like one. The 2019 Ranger wheelbase is listed at 127" so it may be about that long, but would be a new frame or a chopped (?) Ram 1500 frame.

RE: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 11-15-2018

We will know soon enough. It is debuting at the LA Auto Show on November 28th.

RE: Automotive News Discussion - Goodspeed - 11-15-2018

I hope they make a single cab that barely sells because that looks kinda goofy as a crew with 4 foot bed. I'll still take it b/c Jeep Pickup but feels kinda let-downy from the usually awesome concepts that come out of Jeep (see: Gladiator concept during JK era)

I was hoping for more of a unique-yet-recognizably-Jeep truck - I know all we could really hope for is a bed tacked on the back of a Wrangler but it still looks too tacked-on to me.

Actually, gimme the AEV TJ Brute instead

RE: Automotive News Discussion - DavidL - 11-15-2018

I've been traveling up to MI occasionally for work this year, and one unforeseen perk is the amount of prototypes you see just cruising around.

I was pretty excited to see one in full camo garb up in Ann Arbor earlier this week.... did not look significantly longer than the Unlimited wheelbase - but maybe thats the camo trickery

RE: Automotive News Discussion - Apoc - 11-15-2018

Yeah, but does it come in manual?
