I rarely, if ever, play games online, probably won't even buy a subscription to Playstation Plus or whatever right away, so factor that into your recommendations.

I also like the looks of Uncharted 4, Bloodborne, and the new Assasin's Creed. Too many choices.
Definitely, but if you aren't getting PS+ subscription you can't even play Destiny...so...
Dragon Age looks to be pretty awesome and you can play it totally offline if you want. If you aren't playing CoD multiplayer you'll probably own it for about a week.

There's no single player campaign at all? Weird.

JustinG Wrote:Then no, don't buy Destiny, but if you aren't planning on doing a PS Plus subscription, I don't think you are gonna get much out of the PS4. Seems like a lot of content needs PLUS to do anything. But I have always had it, so not sure exactly what you would miss out on.

I mean I'm certainly not opposed to it, I've played some racing games and GTAV online and had fun, I'm just not nearly a dedicated enough gamer to play something like COD online. I haven't tried it in a few years but I just remember getting constantly slaughtered by people camping on the spawn points and not having the patience to sit and take my beating until my character got strong enough to survive a few taps.

Evan Wrote:I picked up the new Tomb Raider reboot and Im very impressed, couple hours in and its very well done.

btw, anybody pick up the free Garden Warfare this weekend?

Is that just a reskinned version of the 360/PS3 Tomb Raider? If so I agree, that's an awesome game, I think another one is coming out next year that will be fully developed for next-gen and should be pretty awesome.

COD campaign is pretty good.

You need friends to play with.....about 8 of us playing Destiny on PS4. Makes things way more entertaining, I would hate it if I kept getting shat on in Multiplayer unless I had friends to play with.

I don't think I'm gonna do Destiny first. I'm gonna start with COD and Assasin's Creed plus the free copies of Last of Us and GTA V (which i've played through twice, but hey first person mode). If you guys are still into Destiny by the time I pick up a copy maybe you can take me under your wing.

Look into "The Division", I think that is our next step after Destiny.

That's pretty good planning ahead for a game that has no release date.

Some speculate Q1, if not, ill find something else.

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - SlimKlim - 12-08-2014

Welp, deed is done. PS4, Last of Us, GTA, COD, Assassin's Creed and an extra controller are patiently waiting for me in the car while I sit at work in a post-purchase fog.

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 12-08-2014

CoD does have a campaign, but if you don't have multiplayer you'll be ready to turn it back in after you beat it in a few days

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - SlimKlim - 12-08-2014

Yeah I expect that and that's fine. I'll probably spring for Plus when I mentally recover from buying the rest of this shit. Apparently you can transfer your GTAV online character from a 360 to the new version, and I actually stuck with that one for a while so I've accumulated a decent amount of cash and crap in that game.

2 hours until I'm soaking in that 1080p @60fps goodness!

FYI, Destiny is 25% off on Amazon right now.

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Senor_Taylor - 12-08-2014

I'm holding off on playing my roomie's copy of GTA V for 360 in case I get an Xbone, but does anyone know the differences between the 360 and Xbone versions of Horizon 2? I really want to play it and I don't foresee a next gen console soon.

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - SlimKlim - 12-09-2014

The PS4 met and exceeded all of my expectations. Confusedhock:

Sounds like aside from the obvious difference of 1080p vs 720p the map isn't as open and there aren't as many cars on the older console, less upgrades, and way less rewards for completing a mission.

The 360 version doesn't sound like that much of an upgrade over the original Horizon game. :dunno:

I've actually been playing it a lot lately, but I think I'm done with this game on principle.

I'd hoped they wouldn't do this, but Destiny is an MMO, and instead of a monthly fee, you're gonna pay for for content. More palatable model in my eyes.

Frankly, the weekly heroic/nightfall thing is a non-issue for me. Like, who cares? None of the actual non-dlc content is unavailable, and you can still get to pre-DLC endgame content today, without any issues.

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - JustinG - 12-09-2014

either way someone was gonna be pissed.

People who got the DLC and the Weekly/Nightfall were the same ole same ole

And those who didn't that can't play the DLC weekly/Nightfall.

Id rather please the people who paid me for the content. Either people stop playing a game they already bought, or they buy the DLC.

There's the problem. You are effectively taking features away from what I bought because I don't want to re-up. So, rather than play to keep features (even if it is a weekly rotation), I'll stop playing. I probably would have stopped playing a normal game by now anyway, but had I known what I know now I woulda bought the disc so I could unload it.

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Mike - 12-09-2014

Preeeeettttyyy terrible. I smell class-action unless somewhere in some T+C did we sign away the ability to not lose content.

All of the strikes are available, if you want to play them. No one is "taking content away".

Now, granted, they probably should just have 2 dailies, two nightfalls but w/e. This is the same as getting upset for them nerfing Pocket Infinity...
