Yep. I can't remember the last time I said "goddamn this show is good" before the end of the first episode.

Same exact thing happened here with all my roommates. We were hooked halfway through the first episode. Russ' character says some of the craziest/deepest stuff I have ever heard out of a tv character. I love it.

Anyone watching the new House of Cards season? I binge-watched most of it this weekend...

Re: Guilty pleasures... you know you've got them! - JPolen01 - 02-17-2014

I'm currently watching episode 7. Trying to not binge watch it all.

Just got caught up with game of thrones and wondering what to do next....looks like house of cards and true detectives it is.

Even though it's taken a lot of attention away from the car, I've been enjoying doing stuff to and around the house. Keeps the project side of me happy.
Other than that, I have an unhealthful obsession with football of the European variety - both spectating, and I'm finally back on a team for the first time in years.
Would love to get back to reading as much as I did when I metro'd to work.

And yeah, I'm also not proud of the binge-watching we've been doing lately. Pretty caught up on Game of Thrones, Mad Men (both come back in April, I think?), and maybe halfway through the latest House of Cards, which isn't doing it for me quite as much as the first season.

Man I didn't think I'd like Game of Thrones, I'm typically not into medieval stuff, but fuck do I love that show. We episode binged through season's 1 & 2 on the flights to and from Australia (it was a little dicey having the sex scenes on screen on the flights...). Then we watched season 3 in a day or 2 when we got back. The wifey is even reading the books now.

One show I'm pretty pumped about is season 6 of Star Wars Clone Wars. Initially that season was cancelled when Disney got the Star Wars rights but they're going to make "season 6" available on Netflix on March 7. All of the other seasons will be available on Netflix streaming too if you haven't seen it.

The next Star Wars 3D-animated series is Star Wars: Rebels and it's set between episodes 3 and 4. Hopefully it'll be as good as Clone Wars was.

We watched the first three episodes of HoC last night; I actually think it's better than S1. Both the wife and I are surprised at how good the show is... we almost stopped after the first couple of S1.

I suggest people pick up Vikings on Amazon Instant. I thought it was gonna be a lame Norse GoT but it actually turned out to be pretty good.

If we're talking guilty pleasures - we watched all four seasons of Strike Back. It's super lame, but all the sex and violence a good gap filler between these other shows.

Vikings is sweet! New season starts next week!

Re: Guilty pleasures... you know you've got them! - JPolen01 - 03-10-2014

I just watched the season 1 finale of True Detectives. If you still are on the fence about it or need a new show, this is the one. Only 8 episodes so nothing that you can't sit down and watch in a week's time. Incredible camera work, music, and writing. I am disappointed that the creator says he wants to start changing the plot every season sort of like American Horror Story and that Matthew Mcconaughey won't be back for season two. He has always been one of my favorite actors and I'm sure we will see him in some big roles after Dallas Buyers Club so all is not lost.

Let's be real here. Matthew mcconaughey's greatest role was Wooderson in dazed and confused

Yes. Second episode is on tonight at 10. Woot!

Re: Guilty pleasures... you know you've got them! - JPolen01 - 02-09-2015

What did you guys think? The beginning was so bizarre yet good. Not a word from Saul for what, like the first 7 minutes? I didn't love it, but I'm definitely going to keep watching. Assuming it follows the Breaking Bad theme of a slow start it should be a good show. I was really impressed by the camera work and the black and white scenes.

Re: Guilty pleasures... you know you've got them! - Evan - 02-09-2015

I loved it. I was afraid it was going to be some bullshit spinoff cash-in like they all are. (though i did find the tollbooth scene lame for that reason)
original, complex and it leaves you slightly confused, just like breaking bad.
