- Hunter - 06-29-2007 .RJ Wrote:$55 isnt chump change, but if you're doing several events each year its a small hit on the budget to get some nice track shots once or twice a year.Very true, but from my standpoint I'm sacrificing a lot of other things in order to cover those track costs (aka. live off ramen, PB&J's,PBR, etc.). So track costs, and things not directly related to getting on track are weighted very differently. - white_2kgt - 06-29-2007 Kaan Wrote:He's making money somehow... he just bought a $4800 camera. So apparently people are paying the $55 for the set. He did not buy a 4800 camera, he may have bought a 1200 camera and a 3600 lens, but if he used it to shoot these latest batch of pics he clearly needs to learn how to use it. - Apoc - 06-29-2007 Mike Wrote:there is no additional overhead for selling 2x the number of digital prints. Bandwidth. Not saying he doesn't have enough but it's not unlimited. What I think you guys are missing is that you are not the target market. Most of you have been tracking for years so pictures aren't that cool to you. His target market are the people who have been on less than a dozen times and would probably pay anything to get a picture of themselves on track. As these type of people are constantly in flux, he gets new people every year. Could he sell more units if he lowered prices, probably, but I'm not sure he would self enough to make up for the loss in margin. He's been at it a few years and they used to be cheaper so I'm figuring it wasn't working before... or it's working better now. - Mike - 06-29-2007 bandwidth? stop it. you're right, he has been doing it for years... he likely has it worked out better than we think... i suppose i've never been and never will be his target market
- white_2kgt - 06-29-2007 I actually asked him what was up w/ the price increase last year when they went up, he mentioned something to the effect of VIR charging him more to take pics at the track. Wouldn't surprise me. - Apoc - 06-29-2007 That's probably true seeing as how they raised NASA's rental fee by 50%. - Finish Line Productions - 07-06-2007 We are at all of the NASA MA events and mostly shoot pictures for the CMC and FFR race groups. However, if you want pictures of your car just drop me an email or come find me in the CMC paddock and let me know what group your in and your car #. We'll shoot as many pictures as you want, where you want and how you want. A CD of hign resolution pictures starts at $15 for the first picture,$3 each add'l picture upto a maximum of $35. Check out some of our work at www.finishlineprod.net - Mike - 07-06-2007 your website makes my brain numb, but i am a fan of some competition in the photo segment! will you ever be offering downloads? do you ever take pictures of school groups? - Finish Line Productions - 07-06-2007 I will take shoot the school groups if someone has requested pictures otherwise I'm usually busy crewing for two or more cars. We'll be at VIR in three weeks, let me know what group your in and I'll get some pictures. After the pictures have been posted, let me know what pictures you're interested in and I can set up a ftp folder with the full resolution picture files for you to download. Downloaded pictures are $8 for the first, $3 ea additional picture up to a maximum of $35. I hope your numbness from our website was a good thing, if not we are always open to suggestions. - Mike - 07-06-2007 good pricing structure... typically there are only one or two shots worth keeping. unfortunately, a good majority of us are school/instructors only so i don't we'll bring you much business. the numbness from the site was not a good thing i'd suggest you all hire a web designer... a professional looking website can likely do great things for business.
