'The weather stripping wasn't so great and water would get in and it would attract ants.  It wouldn't be uncommon to come out to the car in the summer and find it literally filled with ants...'

Sounds like the early Evora ownership experience really builds character :wow:

I like how he said they sold Elise/Exiges to people.  Just try to talk them out of it by telling them how hardcore and rare and uncomfortable the car is and the buyer will talk himself into it  Big Grin

I also watched his video on him helping the Atlanta PD track a stolen Lambo Superleggera. He talked about how people would file insurance claims on their Lambos because they were so far underwater on them, then wrap them in tin foil because they were worried that there were trackers on them. Someone offered to sell him a Lambo for $25k that he had reported as stolen....hahaha

Wow, that is wild. I've never really gotten into any of the automotive youtube channels but this guy's channel appeals to me, gonna watch some over the weekend.

Yeah he is a great story teller. I burned about 45 minutes watching his videos. Good stuff.

This is one channel I have been really meaning to check out, but never do. Going to have to fire some of these up on the Xbox1 soon.

I watched his coast to coast record video and he came off as a huge prick to me....

So we are getting more srs bsns about growing the family and I'm looking ahead again to a safe, reliable, reasonably fun vehicle I can pay cash for. When it happens I don't want to be stuck with one car and a pregnant wife.

I took the advice here to heart and have mostly ruled out another SUV, so a Japanese sedan with a reasonably large back seat for car seat when rarely necessary / clients / coworkers came on the radar. Budget right now is between $15-17k but that might change after this weekend. I test drove a '13 ES350 which I liked more than I thought I would, but it's not a fun car obviously. Just comfy, reliable, quick enough and looks better than it used to. I also drove a '13 GS350 and it's definitely a lot nicer without really sacrificing anything other than a tiny bit of rear leg room. The motor is the same as the ES except it's tuned for about 40 more horsepower, so definitely more responsive. I would probably try to go the F-sport route on that one for the extra goodies you get.

Then I test drove a G37 sedan and that powertrain spoiled me a bit. I actually test drove a G37 in the past before I bought my Jag if anyone remembers (G37 IPL coupe) and really liked it. It's way faster than the other two and way more responsive and fun to drive, but it feels cheaper, has much worse crash test ratings, less standard and safety equipment (ie. no BSM) and the interior is pretty uninspiring and Nissan-esque.

Any thoughts from the peanut gallery? The one big pro with the G37 is that Infinitis have awful resale value so I can get a newer car with lower miles for the same money as an 80-100k+ example of the newer GS350s. I would only really be interested in the S package G37 if I was going to go that route. Right now anyway I'd have to stretch my budget a few grand more to get into a GS350 it seems, most at the top of my range are clapped out or have accident / questionable histories. I think both options (G37 & GS350) would be reliable enough to keep for a long time, which would be the plan. My forum trolling has told me so, but maybe some of you guys know these more than I do

F31 or GTFO

Live the Avalon lifestyle. Forget the haters. No regrets.

If you were smart, you'd get a CPO honda accord. They fall in your price range and you can probably find one in the color/trim you want within a few weeks, if not days.

If you're not smart....

Link borked

I hadn't thought of the Accord or Avalon, definitely need to peep these.  The Accord was on my radar back in the day but the Honda salespeople were the worst and i never actually got to test drive one.

I didn't know they made F31s in Japan  Tongue

Acura TLX fits the bill too; you can find 2015 CPO in your price range. Same with a CPO 2015 Volvo S60, and the CPO on a Volvo will give you 7 years 100k miles from the original date of sale, so you would still have 3 or 4 years and ~50k miles of bumper to bumper warranty (let’s be real here, you never buy out of warranty...). We all know you are gonna blow the budget and buy something ridiculous anyways, but I will entertain the criteria.

My parents have one of those S60's. It seems nice enough.

RE: Help Me Buy A Car Thread v.ScottyB: WITNESS ME BROTHERS - WRXtranceformed - 09-24-2018

So I did a little browsing and I forgot to mention that whatever I get needs to have HID / LED headlights. None of the trims of the S60 seem to have them from what I saw, the Accord's are going to be a little higher mileage if you want the V6 and they also don't seem to have HIDs. The Avalons aren't bad, it looks like there is a "sport" trim that had a limited run in 2015 that gives it a little better wheels and some other stuff. Although they look pretty comparable to an ES350 and I like the way those look more. The TL / TLX came on the radar which was a good call, I loved my TL-S back in the day. I'm not crazy about their styling either from about the '13-'15 model years but I've seen a few that make it move a little.

I've got some time to decide but I like how those options don't have to force me to stretch the cash budget
