Took exactly one hour including going to Lowes to buy 2 bolts. Fitment is not perfect but it sounds very good. I'll make a video tomorrow.

So shiny!

You may not want to do this to your baby, but I was able to tweak the alignment of my exhaust tips by shoving a jack handle right on up in there and bending to where it needed to be.*

EDIT: Oh and before trying something that stupid, first just try shimming where it attaches to the hangers with some washers or something, you might be able to nudge it over to where it should be. I think I did that to fix the horizontal issue on mine, but had to bend it to get it right vertically because it had been tweaked from being rear ended.

Re: Megan the Merlot M edition - RawrImAMonster - 09-28-2016

Yeah I was able to fix the fitment of my muffler with the washers on one side where it attaches to the hangers.

Awful decision. This is what the first guy who installed my Mina Gallery exhaust on the Jag did. He scraped up the tip so bad I had to get the whole thing powdercoated.

So if you do it, just don't fuck it up?

Re: Megan the Merlot M edition - WRXtranceformed - 09-28-2016

Or you could do it the right way the first time

Re: Megan the Merlot M edition - SlimKlim - 09-28-2016

Thanks for the input?

I gave him two options, one less sketchy than the other. I then explained why the more sketchy option was required in my specific situation. The goob you left your car with was just a idiot who didn't use a cloth to protect the tip, that's just general carelessness, it doesn't make what I did in my situation wrong.

Re: Megan the Merlot M edition - Senor_Taylor - 09-28-2016

Actually, everyone is right. It's a common problem for this specific cat back to rub the diff, and to sit too far too the right. Luckily mine doesn't come close to anything after me fiddling around with it. The fix for the exhaust tip being to the right is to... you guessed it.... bend it. It looks better now than it does in that picture, but I'm still getting a rattle from it hitting the bumper. Luckily today is my day off, so I'll mess around with it.

Anytime, words of wisdom from your elders to our impetuous and often misguided millennial friends

Stiffer exhaust hangers made from polyurethane should help.

I got it fixed using some hose clamps to shim the hangers.

Re: Megan the Merlot M edition - Senor_Taylor - 09-29-2016

I really enjoy the exhaust note. A bit louder than stock exhaust, but not enough to draw attention. I get cracks and pops some times. My favorite part is how it sounds when shifting at 3000 rpm. Very good at low RPMs, but it screams up high too.

What other RPM besides red line can you clutch dump at?

The exhaust is breaking in now and the tone is much better. Lots of crackles and pops on deceleration and it's beautiful. I can't resist to smile whenever I drive it. Best vehicle purchase as far as enjoyment for dollar I've made besides putting the head unit and such in my truck.

With Hurricane Harambe coming in soon, I know my roof is going to leak. Any Idea as to what to do to seal it up? I have a tarp, but that seems like a terrible idea. I wonder what I can shove into the window gap to seal it up.

Does the top definitely leak? If you're just preemptively worried, then ignore it and let the rain pour.

If you know it leaks, grab a tarp and throw it over top, get a couple bungies and anchor it to the wheels or to itself under the car. I've done that with the M3 (it leaks at the sunroof and one of the back doors in bad rain) at the track and it worked fine. Just looks janky AF.

Re: Megan the Merlot M edition - JPolen01 - 10-07-2016

Do you have a parking pass? Park it in a garage on campus for the night/weekend.

Re: Megan the Merlot M edition - Senor_Taylor - 10-07-2016

I 100% know it leaks. I worry about the tarp ruining the paint considering there will be high winds.

Polen, JMU tickets for leaving cars in parking decks over night.

Re: Megan the Merlot M edition - davej - 10-07-2016

I didn't think the parking nazi's were out on the weekends? Just don't park in a football deck, they'll tow you. I don't think downtown tickets on the evenings/weekends so you could leave it in that deck. Just move the car to a new spot once or twice if you're worried about it.
