Do you have a second HDMI port? <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01DJI0TJQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_fkmr1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1493637742&sr=8-2-fkmr1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=hdmi+auto+switch+fosmon+4k">https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01DJI0T ... +fosmon+4k</a><!-- m -->

Yea it has 3. I'll just use the two for now. I never play the Xbox anyways. And do a splitter if the need arises. Was just interested to see if anyone has done one

I have VZW for the first time in ~15 years and long texts are getting broken into multiple messages.I think I remember this being a thing with VZW, but I've never had this happen on ATT. It happens regardless of whether I use the OEM app or 3rd party. Someone save me googling and tell me how to stop it.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JPolen01 - 05-01-2017

That's some android bullshit. Doesn't happen on iOS.

Mine used to do this mainly with my fiancé as she was the only non VZW number I really sent a lot of long texts to. They would arrive out of order too. She was att and apple. I was VZW and Android. She switched to VZW, still Apple, and the problem went away. Is it happening with everyone or just non VZW phones

Seems to be VZW bullshit that iphone has a workaround for.

So far it's only happened with one person and I don't know their carrier. No idea if my messages are broken up for them. When I was on ATT, I never had a problem regardless of the carrier/phone I was texting. I think the problem is how GSM messages are passed off to CDMA carriers.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 05-01-2017

Yeah i'm pretty sure it's cross-carrier stuff and it seems to be more pronounced when someone is using an Apple phone. You shouldn't have any issues like that with other Verizon users

Nah it still happens with apple phones, it just doesn't show up like that on your messaging app. People on the other side of the conversation will get split messages even though they don't look like it on your phone. It doesn't happen with iphone to iphone because iMessage doesn't use the normal SMS method though.

Well yeah duh. iMessage everything.

Does anyone here use Sling? I was at a friend's beach house this week and he was using Sling because the cable in Atlantic City is shit. Said it was only $25 a month which of course intrigued me. I looked at their lineup and it's pretty solid with a number of channels they offer with an a la carte setup. Any experience?

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 05-01-2017

Just had my mom text me on an iphone/VZW to my S8/VZW and it wasn't broken up. So, yeah, I'm thinking it's a GSM to CDMA issue.

This was covered in the Dish or Directv thread - don't know how to link to that but if you search for Sling in this forum it will come up.

Actually - isn't that where you complained about needing to watch your shitty ass Orioles and that's why this stuff wouldn't work for you

Either way - they offer a free trial. Try it out and see how you like it.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JPolen01 - 05-01-2017

Yeah I thought we talked about it. Couldn't remember where.

And shitty orioles? What, we drop two games to the Yankees (and remain in 1st place) and suddenly we are at the bottom of the league? Come on man [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]

Anybody have a hulu account they want to share? I'm trying to check out The Hand Maiden's Tale.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JPolen01 - 05-11-2017

Can anyone recommend a cheap laptop? Only use will be web browsing and downloading music.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 05-11-2017

Pretty much any of the Chromebooks

Loving my Acer R13. Whatever you get, be sure it is on the list to receive Google Play store.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 05-11-2017

So I sold my Nexus 6P on SWAPPA, highly recommend, it is like ebay for phones but a lot of the tech forums use it for their classifieds, so if you have decent hardware to sell, it wont take long for it to go. My phone was up for 24hrs before it sold.

Ended up finding a Daydream headset on there for $40, and received it today.

Very cool headset, I have 0 experience in VR, it is interesting and takes some getting used to. After you get over the Nerd goggles, the experience is pretty cool.

If you are friends with my on IG or FB, you can see a video of the kid using it. This was one reason I wanted to snag one. Kid loves animals/fish etc. We can sit down and watch planet earth together for hours. With the Nat Geo 360 videos available, she was amazed. As was I! The wildlife videos are just cool.

Haven't tried any of the games or anything yet, but will try and download some to try.

The Google Play movies experience is cool, you get the whole movie theater experience, I think it equates to having like a 90inch screen or something crazy and with good headphones on, it is like you are in the theater.

Really excited to see what comes of VR in the future, I know Daydream is 1st gen hardware, but I am pretty impressed.

The only con I have at the moment, is my Pixel XL gets WARM due to the processing power needed. A known issues/side effect, but it does ask a lot of the processor.

I've got an Asus Transformer T200T I'm possibly done with if you want a cheap windows machine, though I'd also recommend a Chromebook (which is what I'm looking to get)

I'm still looking into if the chrome os can run iTunes. Quick glance on the Internet says no but Justin sent me a link that says it's possible. Need to check that out. How much for the Asus? Assuming it's still functional?

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 05-12-2017

Yea so I think what I sent you may only work for music, not sure about video. But after you transfer all your music from iTunes via PC/MAC, I would recommend you start using Google play music vs iTunes, it is accessible on all devices unlike iTunes.
