Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 07-23-2014 So I actually really enjoyed multiplayer when we had a fireteam of 3 guys going at it that are reasonably good at video games. We were definitely wrecking kids when we could coordinate. I still think the fusion rifle is so dumb (to land a one shot kill anywhere on your body from basically any distance), and vehicles are way overpowered and also dumb. But it gives me hope that I will actually want to play multiplayer some and not get super frustrated trying to best the Halo wiz-kids. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - G.Irish - 07-23-2014 Yeah that was a lot of fun last night. Switching to the scout rifle was a night and day difference for me. I had been using that super high rate of fire auto rifle but I think it's just too hard to control to be that useful. With the scout rifle I was winning most head to head encounters the first time I used it. I'll have to try the fusion rifle again but when I used it I was getting killed while charging it all the time. The sniper rifle is a lot more my style. Vehicle wise the key to is that you've gotta have a sniper rifle, fusion rifle, or super to take them down. Typically I can just snipe the driver off of the vehicle. I do wish they still had hijacking though, that was a good equalizer when someone was careless with a vehicle or got into a tight space. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 07-25-2014 So I think the (green, upgraded) Mitternaught might be the best scout rifle. I have been generally doing ok in multiplayer but some kid was WRECKING me with one last night. So I grinded DL until I got one, played around with it in the Cosmodrome until it was fully upgraded and wow, I can see why. I had been rocking the Jigoku which is a sick gun with higher overall shot damage but its rate of fire is way too slow for multiplayer. I think the DPS of the Mitternaught exceeds it significantly because of its rate of fire. It fires quick enough that you can put down cover fire in one-on-one situations in multiplayer and do a ton of damage. The MN also has a larger magazine at 19 vs. 15. I have been getting better with a full auto in multiplayer but the reality is if you are further than short-mid range it just isn't ever going to cut it in one on one battles. Haven't had the chance to try it in multiplayer yet but I will probably play around with it tonight to see how much of a difference it makes. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - G.Irish - 07-25-2014 Hmm, guess it's time to do the Strike a few more times. The Iron Banner will be open again wekend so definitely try to jump on that and let loose with that thing: Friday, July 25th 1 PM – 3 PM 5 PM – 7 PM 10 PM – 12 PM Saturday, July 26th 1 PM – 3 PM 5 PM – 7 PM 10 PM – 12 PM Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - G.Irish - 07-25-2014 BTW, the beta is now open to anyone who wants in. PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 07-25-2014 Nice! I will be home around 4:30 and probably hop on, or may just fire up the late night session. You only need Iron Banner level 1 and a few thousand glimmer for the player icon / waist banner btw Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - G.Irish - 07-25-2014 Unfortunately I'm low on glimmer after accidentally buying that fucking ship. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 07-25-2014 No worries go grind out at the Forgotten Shores with an Ether Seed or two for a bit. The chests respawn in each cave surprisingly quickly, I made another $2k just running around checking caves and camping the Renegade Vandal Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - CaptainHenreh - 07-25-2014 Are those iron banner times Eastern or Pacific? Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - G.Irish - 07-25-2014 Ok, I'll go out and make some money I converted them to EST for your benefit Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Apoc - 07-25-2014 EST or EDT? ![]() I played some last night and realized I'm pretty much over FPS. Maybe I didn't get far enough into the game, but it felt a lot like a Halo redux with Mass Effect upgrades. I miss the days of RTS.
Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - G.Irish - 07-28-2014 Some exotic loot to look forward to:
Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 07-28-2014 Those glowing arms look dirty! The names of each loot gives me hope that some of this stuff will be obtainable by quests and not by just grinding the cosmodrome or the crucible over and over and over and over. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - G.Irish - 07-28-2014 That's a good point. I hope there's a somewhat straightforward way of getting some of the exotics, even if you have to do something really hard to get 'em. I'd hate having to play the loot slot machine dozens of times to try to get something, addicting though slot machines may be. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 07-31-2014 So.....so much for level 20 cap. And yes, I am definitely sticking with Titan! http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/07/31/ ... e=facebook Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - RawrImAMonster - 08-04-2014 I've been playing through Dishonored recently. Got it on the steam sales a few weeks ago. Really fun game. I definitely recommend it if you haven't had a chance to play it yet. I'm taking the stealth route with it so far and some of the powers you get like the teleport are really useful and fun for this approach. If you're a lore-nerd like Lee and I, make sure you break out The Heart early and often. It knows things. Been using the heart a good bit so far. I enjoy collecting the bone charms. There are some really useful ones. I think my favorite so far is the strong arms one which significantly reduces the amount of time it takes to choke someone out. Yeah, but use it even when there aren't bone charms. Point it at everyone, and everything. Once I realized who it belonged to I was like hock:
Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 08-05-2014 Wow and I thought I was anal about analyzing video games like this. Pretty interesting commentary about Destiny "elemental" damage that I didn't even notice while we were playing the game. Matching up weapons to shield types is going to get tricky in the heat of battle, but it is good to know as some of the instances / quests / bosses get harder...it will probably become more important to "weapon match" to your enemy (and carry around multiple weapons with multiple different elemental damage types). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTLosBMLt3Q |
