Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 10-04-2011 Thumb Keyboard... but it ain't free any more. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JPolen01 - 10-17-2011 Apoc Wrote:Thumb Keyboard... but it ain't free any more. Got it on the free day..well worth it for the droid x Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 10-18-2011 Dropped my tablet right on its corner on pavement. It's a little harder to push the on button and volume buttons...but it still works  Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 10-20-2011 http://www.bgr.com/2011/10/19/netflix-adds-support-for-honeycomb-tablets Haven't tried as my Netflix acct is currently on hold. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Mike - 10-20-2011 didn't read link, but the url leads me to believe android didn't have netflix support before? Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 10-20-2011 The tablet specific version didn't. The phones and tablets running 2.x did. Fragmentation, etc. Honeycomb is generally considered a step-child of Android. The support for is just catching up in the last month or two. Google's supposedly going all iOS and making a single platform for everything with Ice Cream Sammich. I don't know if it's the OS or the execution, but I much prefer 2.3 on my Samsung phone than I do 3.2 on my Asus tablet. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Mike - 10-20-2011 that's terrible. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JPolen01 - 10-20-2011 Ice Cream Sandwich is supposed to be the holy grail. I'm interested to see how it goes. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Mike - 10-20-2011 the next release is always supposed to be the holy grail in the android world. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Ken - 10-20-2011 Next release is supposed to be the holy grail in ANY software world... Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Evan - 10-20-2011 App switching /multitasking/dismissing stolen from WebOS, notifications stolen from WebOS, and device to device sharing stolen from WebOS. so yeah, maybe Android wont be such an unsuable mess anymore ![]() if I can find an ICS phone that isnt as big as a damn tablet maybe that will be my next phone. still not terribly excited about carrying around a google advertising delivery and data collection device though Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - G.Irish - 10-20-2011 Evan Wrote:App switching /multitasking/dismissing stolen from WebOS, notifications stolen from WebOS, and device to device sharing stolen from WebOS.WebOS is dead, let it goooooooo  Quote:if I can find an ICS phone that isnt as big as a damn tablet maybe that will be my next phone.Yeah I'm not 100% sold on these phones with really big screens. Supposedly the Galaxy Nexus just downsized the bezel to get more screen real estate rather than increasing the size of the entire phone. Don't know if that's a good idea or not. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 10-20-2011 I was pretty worried about screen size coming from a Blackberry. Turns out my S2 is actually less obtrusive in my pocket than my Bold ever was... I'm guessing due to the (lack of) thickness. There's definitely a point where the screen is gonna be too large, but 4.3 isn't it. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 10-20-2011 My Epic Touch 4G (GS2) has a freakin huge screen but yea, same thing...it's not nearly as intrusive even with an aftermarket case than my EVO was without a case. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Mike - 10-21-2011 Ken Wrote:Next release is supposed to be the holy grail in ANY software world... not to the extent that it is in the android world. not even close. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - G.Irish - 10-21-2011 I'd say Mac OS X and iOS releases get a similar level of hype. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Mike - 10-21-2011 hype, yes, and probably even more, but "this is gonna fix everything that's wrong!!!1111!!11!!"? no. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 10-21-2011 I don't think any release of Android has ever said it's gonna fix everything that's wrong. Not even ICS. It's just supposed to make a single platform for everything. The fanbois might have said that, but fanbois for every platform say that. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Mike - 10-21-2011 THIS IS THE ONE! Don't know if that's a good idea or not. ive made a list of current and upcoming phone sizes for my comparison shopping. size and pocketability is a huge factor for me. as you can see the trend is getting bigger and bigger. the galaxy nexus and droid razr dwarf the already big evo and 4.3" class phones. its too badapple stuck with the same outdated form factor on the iphone. looks like ill be looking at the nokia 800, after i spend some more time with win phone iphone 4 (reference) 4.5 x 2.31 x .37 115 x 59 x 9.3 htc evo 4g 4.3" (reference) 122 x 66 x 13 Palm Pre (reference) 100 x 60 x 17 Galaxy Nexus 4.65" 1280x720 1.2 dual 135 x 68 x 9mm Droid Razr 4.3 960 x 540 1.2 dual 130 x 69 x 7mm Nokia N9 / 800 (?) 3.9" screen 116 x 61.2 x 12 |
