Confusedhock: the challenger is gigantic, the first time one pulled up next to me on the road I was in shock, I mean, its just HUGE

that being said, it still looks good and I do like it as well, but its a big big car

oh i do too, especially in black. i just thought it was monstrous.

- WRXtranceformed - 10-14-2008

My boy Trevor and I stopped by the Nissan dealership to check out a black one they had there. It is monstrous. The salesperson wouldn't let us open the door, sit in it or even touch it. He said even HE wasn't allowed to open the door... LOL. He told us that everything on it is completely functional and if it was changed it would mess up the car... the wing, the wheels, etc. I don't know if I believe him.

Seeing it in person, it is functionally beautiful but it is not an attractive car to me at all.

Nissan reacted to Porsche's tests of the GTR on the 'ring, remember when they called BS on the GTR's claimed times? Here's the Top Gear update on it. HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE if the Stig raced them both at the 'ring to settle the score??

Walter Rhorl needs to "Get a bit quicker" ?

Id love to see a real comparison with the GTR, using a random off-the-showroom car, not the media test car or tuned 'ring car.

perfect analysis of the situation

I can't even tell what im looking at int he picture. the headline says one thing, the drag times posted say another, and i can't even tell which cars in in that picture. Oh, and for a last fail, the guy's finger is in it.

- flintster55 - 10-15-2008

Doesn't the Z06 run the 1/4 in the low 11's? Or even 10's with an amazing driver?

- WRXtranceformed - 10-15-2008

Yeah the Z06s has gotten into the 10s with an amazing driver and iirc the stock tires. It's definitely into the 10s on DRs. It is without a doubt a faster car in a straight line than the GTR, I don't think anyone has ever tried to dispute that.

After seeing a GTR at Summit, it struck me with good and bad qualities. One, it is indeed a massive car, but I still greatly admire the looks of it and it was devilishly fast. I wish I could of gotten a ride, but watching it maul traffic down SP straight was impressive. It sounded virtually quiet with a light thrum under throttle, which was a disappointment. I could see the HPDE'r flipping through the onboard screen functions with his instructor which was pretty cool. Still, the C6 Z06's tugged at my heart strings more, and I would still prefer one of those Smile

Its 2 GTRS running at a 1/4 mile track. Magazines talked them up to be the z killer. And then you see what they do in real life.

See here for more information-

as much as Jack is a good writer, i get annoyed at the way he always manages to toot his own horn (slk and spec focus references). the fact also remains that the ring is an excellent venue for testing performance cars thanks to the huge amount of different terrain encountered at speed, so i hope development there continues but without the media acting like such overzealous fools.

i think a year from now when all the hype has died down about the R35, people are going to look back at the ring times and wonder how so many people fell for it.

Ha, I do wonder what a private party GTR will do. I don't see how sucking at driving would affect an AWD car with launch control, but its been proven time and again that you simply can't match manufacturer claims these days (if indeed they are overestimating, as the Japanese regularly do). Still, I don't doubt they'll get quicker than that. It reminds me of the '93 MKIV introduction days, one of Toyota's press cars in the hands of C&D had its boost turned all the way up to 4.6 sec. 0-60 and bottom 13 1/4's approaching 110 traps - prod. cars were 5.2ish 0-60 and 13.4-5's at 105.

Yeah I agree, that was really annoying.
(not to mention Spec Focus has like, 4 cars competing)

I'm voting for GTR/Obama '08

Why vote for one messiah when you can have two?
