- ScottyB - 11-09-2006 BLINGMW Wrote:Are you set up to safely trail brake? I prefer backing off the brake strength until lockup won't happen with a warm tire on flat surface. And I bias it slightly more towards the front than really necessary. Then I can reach my mark, slam the brakes full on (I also have braking help turned on, provides a little ABS), and slowly release as I'm turning in. There are a couple corners that I've kept moving my braking point further and further to find that I'm almost entirely trail braking, and surprised the car is up for it. the thing is, i'm kind of wrapped up in a big mess: i can trailbrake well -- my problem is braking distance. because i run alot of camber in the front, i have to back off my braking power (to not lock up) and this in turn allows alot of people to outbrake me. so then, i change my camber to get more front grip so that i can brake harder....which in turn screws up my cornering grip/balance and i have to take a different line or spend another 2 days trying in vain to perfect a new setup. i will try the braking help feature though. normally i swear off any "help" features and force myself to learn on my own, but i'm desperate to make any improvement at all. i've tried your setups Chan, and they are great. problem is, no matter how long i drive them i can't get close to your times so i'm pretty sure my driving style is simply different. what also kills me is that i'll try to hang with guys that have a genuinely sloppy/toss-it-in driving style and i still get walked no matter how smooth i am. maybe its gearing?
- HAULN-SS - 11-09-2006 Might be able to i'll let ya know - BLINGMW - 11-09-2006 ScottyB Wrote:maybe its gearing? maybe they're cheating? I honestly don't know. I've PM'd a couple guys that have WR times and tried their setups when I was trying to develop a set for that godforsaken mid-engine thing, and their setups were just not usually drastically different. I also have tried some from other sites, and again, they are usually similar. So I guess they're just better than us. I know some of them spend a WHOLE lot more time playing (check their miles driven in the LFS desktop), so I guess we can just chalk it up to them practicing more than us.anyway, I'm down for something at 8 tonight. Demo or full, we'll decide later. - REED - 11-09-2006 I'm out for this evening, open bar is beckoning - BLINGMW - 11-09-2006 REED Wrote:I'm out for this evening, open bar is beckoning huh? damn. can I go? - REED - 11-09-2006 if you want to make the trek to DC you are more than welcome 1223 has an "open bar" happy hour every week Thursday: 6-9 $15 Friday: 5-9 $20 Top shelf - pretty much anything you could want - BLINGMW - 11-09-2006 ah.... so you're saying you could join us very drunkenly after 9?
- REED - 11-09-2006 hahaha - yeah - see just how much drinking really does impair your driving - Evan - 11-09-2006 ah yes, good old 1223. Never done the open bar thing though, is it any good? Every time Ive gone its been dead before 11 - REED - 11-09-2006 Yeah it is always "good busy" - enough people to be fun, w/o the lines and bullshit, but by 9:05 it is dead. I think it is the best pregaming spot in town. You can head out by 9 and be on your way to the main event with a good healthy buzz. The food is acutally pretty decent as well, well the chiken fingers at least. Their open bar is pretty serious though. Very few things are actually not included, jack, Crown, and all the premium vodkas flow like water. - HAULN-SS - 11-09-2006 yeah..this is hard as shit. - BLINGMW - 11-09-2006 HAULN-SS Wrote:yeah..this is hard as shit. haha.... do you have a controller of some kind? REED Wrote:hahaha - yeah - see just how much drinking really does impair your driving I'm usually drinking at least a little when LFSing.... and a LOT more if I want to make things a fair race.
- Evan - 11-09-2006 BLINGMW Wrote:I'm usually drinking at least a little when LFSing....hopefully not as much as maeng did when we all used to race..... - HAULN-SS - 11-09-2006 Nope, I'm using a trackball mouse. An uberleet trackball, which pwns for FPS, but might suck for this. - Maengelito - 11-09-2006 Evan Wrote:BLINGMW Wrote:I'm usually drinking at least a little when LFSing....hopefully not as much as maeng did when we all used to race..... haha, i'd be finished with an entire bottle of wine by the time we got through like 2 races... man i need to pick up a wheel and play this game again - Evan - 11-09-2006 Maengelito Wrote:because you dont drink enough already? :lol:Evan Wrote:BLINGMW Wrote:I'm usually drinking at least a little when LFSing....hopefully not as much as maeng did when we all used to race..... - Maengelito - 11-09-2006 how dare you evan... i'm so depressed and angry that i'm going out to the bars right now over your comment about me drinking too much! - BLINGMW - 11-09-2006 hey hey now, you can just drink right here! demo server's up to see if anyone is actually going to join me..... log: MM Test pw: MM - ScottyB - 11-09-2006 i'll be there in a few - BLINGMW - 01-09-2007 anyone checked out the STCC servers?
