lookin' sharp, RJ. So how much pollen is on it now?

- HAULN-SS - 05-05-2008

is that a pre-sale wash?

Maengelito Wrote:lookin' sharp, RJ. So how much pollen is on it now?

I had to dust the car off between coats of polish and wax - the pollen would accumulate by the time I'd worked from one end of the car to the other Sad

Probably put another coat of wax on it and take some more pics this week - I'm not terribly happy with how they came out (too cloudy).

HAULN-SS Wrote:is that a pre-sale wash?

Yup. Wash, claybar, wash, menzerna intensive polish, detail spray, menzerna micro polish, detail spray, P21S carnuba wax, detail spray... and then the interior, glass, door jams...

Tell your friends...

I've done 4 cars within a week now, and I'll need to do moms new ride ('06 TSX) this weekend for mothers day... I'm getting a little tired of the detail thing. Mom said I should hire myself out to do this stuff on weekends - fuck that, its a lot of work.

Unless you can charge 50 bucks an hour, that shit is not worth it. I did my MR2 and Miata and it damn near killed me. I can imagine waxing a SUV.

- .RJ - 05-05-2008

What does Ciro charge? Seems to take me 3-5 hrs to do a car, depending on the size and what it needs. If he's charging less than $50/hr, thats a steal and I should call him instead of doing it myself Wink

- HAULN-SS - 05-05-2008

I used to do some of this on the side. I'd get between 75 and 100$ a car, which usually took 3 hours, and didn't include claybar. This was probably 5 years ago too

- .RJ - 05-05-2008

Yeah, fuck that.

I'm sure *most* people would scoff at $200-250 for a detail job when they can go to the mexi-wash up the street for the $12 super wash (with coupon).... even though they spent $40k on their luxobarge. The supplies alone add up and I go through them fairly quickly.

- Apoc - 05-05-2008

This is why a border fence is a bad idea.

You could get all that for $200, which depending on the vehicle could be less than $50/hour. They won't do the exterior 32 times like you did, but I can't tell the difference.

- .RJ - 05-05-2008

What did Currys charge to detail your S4?

- Apoc - 05-05-2008

.RJ Wrote:What did Currys charge to detail your S4?

I had it done at Suds in Ashburn. It was $220 and that included leather conditioning, shampooing the headliner, trunk and carpets and steam cleaning the engine.

I actually didn't want to sell it after they did it, the thing looked brand new.

Yeah... VW looks great now and its running well with no issues. Better get out while I can Wink

.RJ Wrote:Take some more pics! None of mine looked very good Sad The lighting was pretty poor...

Sorry, lighting was even worse, and the car was 400 miles less clean, but the setting was at least a little better! :dunno:

^^ nice! how was the drive?

- BLINGMW - 05-08-2008

Ended up quite nice although the weather sucked for a while. It's really kind of silly watching people come from all over the US just to drive over their heads and get tickets on a federal parkway. I mean, really, it's cheaper to goto the track. Oh, and the masses of riced out minis made ours look quite dull.

- .RJ - 05-16-2008

The road bike was been pretty filthy, so I cleaned it up last weekend - and then rode it in the rain... oh well Smile
