Drove the car for the first decent distance over the weekend.

Richmond to Summit Point, 3hrs up, 3hrs back.

Handled it like a champ. Plenty of room, ate the miles, was very comfortable, received a few compliments from random people. Absolutely zero complaints.

29mpg hwy, went down to 27 at the end of the trip, after driving around summit and to the hotel.

Seeing Steve's car confirmed I want the M Perf lip.

Do you get the gas station compliments too?

I've driven all manner of car and, other than the 911, haven't gotten anywhere near the number of compliments as I have while driving the F31.

I'm, like, dude... it's a regular ole wagon. You can buy one too!

Not really gas station compliments, especially here where the SUV is King.

But was nice seeing people with true M cars saying it's awesome, and tourings are hard to come by.

So, springs will hopefully go on this weekend. Apparently E sockets are needed so I need to find a good set, so if anyone has recommendations lemme know.

I have started to research intakes, cause they make cool noises. But at the same time, the factory box is sufficient, so I've been looking at an AFE air scoop, and a better drop in filter like their dry filter.

The scoop directs Air straight into the airbox, which can't hurt.

Ideally to get more whoosh noises, I'd like to just find a hard pipe the goes from the turbo to the factory airbox. This would be missing all the baffles that the factory pipe has to quiet down all the cool noises.

I am keeping my eye out for a used M perf muffler, fingers crossed.

I may or may not have the M perf lip in my shopping cart right now.....

i like that scoop...i know you're talking about sound here but there HAS to be some marked benefit over the stock box at speed with the air pressure being banged into that scoop, right? i remember tuning the 2.5RS with an OEM WRX intake scoop that took in air from the tiny crack between the grill and the hood, and even that restricted scoop showed a nice vacuum drop at 60+ mph. maybe its much less noticeable with boosted cars, or maybe BMW software is too picky to allow it, but i hope it lets some ponies free.

Don't BMW charge pipes have failure issues? (At least on the E9X)? Seems like a good way to lie to yourself and justify an aftermarket one.

The factory air boxes are really good on modern cars. Everything I read about AFE for the E91 was no gains and shitty fitment.

Yup, most modern factory airboxes aren't restricitve until you are 100+ hp over stock.

Reading deeper into it, and people have actually reported a loss on the Dyno.

Looks like I'll save $300 and just get a filter and that scoop.

Still wanna try and figure out how to get more woosh noises though.

Actually though. I love my atmospheric BOV.

Can you do a turbo muffler delete? Downpipe?

The 13 piece gear wrench set is pretty choice and has seen some abuse.

So back to the lip....

Really like the M Perf, and the OEM+ look. But I am digging the look of the other 2 as well for something different and how they don't cover the bottom half of the bumper.

They all look the same to me.

2 and 3 are very similar, one has inlets, the other doesn't, and just attach to the bottom of the bumper.

The mperf (lip1) extends up into the grill where the fogs are, covering part of the bumper.

How do you not see these drastic differences?!?!?

RE: Project: AWD Turbo Family Hauler (PART DEUX) - Apoc - 05-13-2018

I see now. The gray bumper on 2 and 3 makes it hard to see the difference from 1. I still think 1 would look good with a red bumper, but price would influence me pretty heavily. My order of preference is 1,2,3.

Project: AWD Turbo Family Hauler (PART DEUX) - ryangreen1 - 05-13-2018

2,3,1 for me. I like the look the inlets give, and I don’t care for how far the m rep one goes up the bumper, that would look good in gloss black though
