Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - CaptainHenreh - 06-16-2014 G.Irish Wrote:If you signed up for the Destiny Alpha, you'll be getting in. Kinda wish I had bought a PS4 this week Oh man, the Destiny "alpha" was FUCKING OFF THE CHAIN. The "free explore" map just seemed to go on forever. Lee and MegaSmalls and I spent the better part of an hour just dicking around saying "HEY COME LOOK AT THIS" to each other. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 06-16-2014 Very very epic. I had more "I would like it to be like this, or that" feedback than "this is broken" which is amazing. The only glitch I really saw was a yellow Captain frozen in place with some health left when everyone else saw him as dead. My favorite HEY COME LOOK AT THIS was Rex inviting us down to this cave he found with a level 11 (red) Hive Knight and 20 minutes later we finally gave up without making a dent in him. I unloaded at least 6 rockets into him and we dropped every special power we had and no dice  Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Mike - 06-16-2014 hey, so chris can vouch that my xbox one is a piece of shit. chris? i may need to warranty my kinect. except the issues are deeper than that; random freezes and reboots, tv not working half the time. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Apoc - 06-16-2014 Yeah, it's pretty lame. I'd be annoyed if my XB1 worked likes yours does. Even my wife commented how stupid it is. Mine is literally flawless aside from having to repeat myself once in awhile. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 06-16-2014 Funny how I couldn't even log into Titanfall on day 1-5 but I didn't experience a single lag related or server glitch on Destiny Alpha on PS4. Sorry you are having those problems man but I was right there with you and feel your pain. FWIW my PS4 experience has been flawless. My only lasting gripe is that the earpiece / headset they give you is whack...which aint no thang in the grand scheme Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - G.Irish - 06-16-2014 I ran out like a lunatic and bought a PS4 just to play the Destiny Alpha and I was not dissapointed. The level of polish and fun factor was amazing for an alpha. Can't wait for the beta next month. High points *The free roam areas are humongous. I think I read somewhere that each of the 4 locations (Earth, Moon, Mars, Venus) is as big as all of the maps combined from Halo Reach. *The seamless matchmaking in free roam mode worked pretty damned well. When I first started playing the Alpha I didn't see many people but later on there were a lot of random people that would seamless join in. It was fun to spontaneously team up with someone to take on a public event. *Enemy AI is a major improvement. The enemies seek cover far more realistically and are much better at sneaking up on you. When two of the alien races fight each other it looks natural. *Player vs Player is much more fast paced than Halo. There are a lot of ways to get killed in one shot or one attack. For one, everyone starts with a one hit kill weapon like a sniper rifle or shotgun. Then each class has a grenade that recharges over time (rather than having to collect it). Then, each class has a special melee attack that has to recharge. The Titan class can one hit kill anyone within a radius with that attack. Then everyone can carry a special weapon like a rocket launcher that you have to find ammo for. Then everyone has a super move that can kill a bunch of people in one attack [You've got to rack up kills to earn a super]. The supers take some skill and thought to use properly so it doesn't end up like CoD where you can get pummeled under a chain of killstreak rewards. *I also love the way you can move. Everyone can double jump to start, but in the upgrade tree you can triple jump, or jump and teleport. This makes the game far more vertical and it means there are a lot of ways of getting around a map. You also have a slide move from a sprint but I didn't see many people taking advantage of that yet. *Earning loot (armor and weapons), leveling up your weapons, and leveling up your skills is a lot of fun. Doesn't seem like you'll have to do any mindless grinding. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 06-16-2014 Woop! Might hop back on if true: http://www.polygon.com/2014/6/16/581393 ... -extension Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Mike - 06-16-2014 hopped onto chat with MS. they're sending a replacement kinect sensor. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Mike - 06-19-2014 Will this be the title to make me jump ship (no pun)? http://kotaku.com/how-a-seemingly-impos ... 1592820595 Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - HAULN-SS - 06-19-2014 So apparently everyone I know outside this forum bought Wii U's to play Mario kart 8..anyone played it? Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - G.Irish - 06-19-2014 Wow those are some seriously hardcore Mario Kart fans. I certainly wouldn't pay $330 to play Mario Kart. Then again I do own a fancy steering wheel and pedals. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - HAULN-SS - 06-19-2014 Apparently they're also banking on the next slew of nintendo releases coming - Starfox and Zelda which they say are looking good. I'm kind of surprised, but then I went looking for the Wii U Markio Kart 8 bundle, and it's sold out or in limited supply most places I looked..guess they arent the only ones. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 06-19-2014 We just had a MK8 session last night. I had already bought the Wii U for my wife though. It is actually a really, really awesome system with some innovative stuff to it. It's a fun game, way harder and different than the old MarioKarts. They made a way to defend against the Blue Shell which was much needed and it is a lot easier to go from 1st to 5th or 6th pretty quickly, even if you're near the end of the last lap. We played online the other night and it was fun, it shows you the countries everyone is playing from and it gets pretty ruthless! With MK8 registration you get one free digital game download so my wife downloaded the new Zelda Windwalker game, which was pretty sweet because that is still for sale for like $60 in stores. I haven't played it yet but she really enjoys it, can supposedly put over 100 hours into it if you wanted. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 06-19-2014 What I also like about the Wii U is the detached touch screen pad which you can use in the game or you can play your game directly on it. So instead of taking up a TV, I can come upstairs and watch soccer while my wife plays her game on the pad. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - RawrImAMonster - 06-19-2014 I've been really tempted to pick up one of the Wii U's recently. Nintendo sells refurbished ones with a warranty for 200 bucks on their website. Not a bad price at all. I'll probably just end up waiting until Zelda, Smash Brothers and Starfox come out. Car parts or video games is a hard decision. I wouldn't be surprised if those games are 18 months+ from release. MK8 and Super Mario 3DWorld aren't bad ways to spend time until then though. Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Evan - 07-02-2014 So who is going to be the first one to re-make the MM bangbus?
