Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 03-30-2017 I'm 95% sure I'm getting an S8, which is why I'm looking to change provider. I thought hard about moving to Google devices, but no wireless charging is a deal breaker for me. I've also had the S2, S4, and S6... so I really have no choice but to get the S8. Google Home and Amazon Alexa still suck. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 04-03-2017 So switched to Verizon, data is way faster and much better signal. However, I am 99% sure my dropped calls is a Hardware issue. Ring, Ring, someone picks up, 1 seconds later call drops. Huawei tried to say it was a signal issue, but I debunked that when I said I was talking to them on a VZW iPhone. "You can send it in, and we will look at the phone, Turn around time of 4 weeks." Research says they always return the phone as "No issues found" Not to mention the phone has started shutting down with 20-15% remaining. Another documented issue, and when you contact Huawei about it, they blame it on the Software. But people replace their battery and it works again for 6 months til the hardware kills that battery. So, I ordered a Pixel XL from Google, should be here soon. Never buying a Huawei product again, their customer service is garbage, and their US support while under warranty is absolute shit. I will also never buy a Nexus/Pixel device from someone other than Google. Even out of warranty, Google has been sending people with issues a refurb unit no questions asked cause they know most of the phones are shit. Haven't had any problems with my pixel itself other than a battery drain issue after an update. Resetting the battery optimization settings to default for all apps after the update fixed that though. I'm probably just going to start doing that after each OS update in general. I will say my usb-c to usb-c cable isn't working very well for charging so I'm going to have to replace that eventually. Sometimes it won't recognize the cable and sometimes it will on and off for a few seconds before finally charging. All of my other cables work fine. Have not had any issues with charging yet. Thankfully. Still no issues to report with the regular Pixel. Hopefully it stays that way Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 04-04-2017 Apoc Wrote:I'm 95% sure I'm getting an S8, which is why I'm looking to change provider. Seems like a legit way to save money  So I'll probably take them up on it and get an S8 and relegate my S7 to backup duty in case I need it Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 04-04-2017 rherold9 Wrote:RawrImAMonster Wrote:I will say my usb-c to usb-c cable isn't working very well for charging so I'm going to have to replace that eventually. No issues with any of my Anker USB A to C or C to C cables. Both the 6P and Chromebook charge just fine with them, and they all pass the USB-C test. In case you want a high quality replacement for not a lot of cash. Their 5 port wall charger (4 USB A and 1 USB C) has worked out well too, has the same specs and does "Rapid Charging" like the factory charger. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 04-08-2017 Anyone have any good suggestions for home speakers? Or at least the best brands. (Not overhyped ones like Bose where you pay just for the brand) Possibly bookshelf style or maybe portable or both. Ideally with Chromecast built in but I know that limits the choices and I can always add a Chromecast audio but whole home speaker connectivity would be the eventual goal. Love (for the most part) the Google play music service and being able to control it all from my phone then just cast it to good speakers sounds like the easiest solution to me. Room pairing/creating speaker groups would be cool too. Just trying to figure out good "affordable"speaker options. Maybe starting with just one and then I can add on and build the whole house part up over the years. Chromecast enabled stuff would be cool because it could be asleep (ideally) and casting to it would wake it up whereas Chromecast audio would require me to either turn on the speakers or leave them on and I read one little blurb about some ground loop problems doing it that way. Speaking of ground loop, the trucks audio system is in decay and gets tons of static when it decides to turn on at all. Might be corroded crossovers if that's even a cause. My young dumb self put them in the doors. Otherwise I'm not sure where to even begin tracking that down. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - BLINGMW - 04-08-2017 You'll have to narrow your requirements a bit. Home speakers (usually large), bookshelf style (oh ok smaller), portable (I'm lost), chromecast built in (google home?). Sounds like this is just for music so: Do you want something that rocks the house? That's still a component system with powered sub and I like Infinity speakers, with chromecast audio dongle as an input. My daily use is still a set of Infinities I got from RJ 100 years ago and only very recently upgraded the amp and sub. Do you want something a little smaller and simpler that still has a sub, with chromecast and bluetooth built in? Looks like a Vizio soundbar is the way to go, even though it's designed for TV. How about semi-portable, all-in-one, no sub, but still has decent inputs and bluetooth? I recently got a Yamaha-TSX-B235BL which is pretty much their take on the Bose Wave radio, but does everything for less and I like the sound. Obviously lacks low end. And I was looking for something with a CD player which limited options a lot. If you're just looking for a mono brick thing to cast to and fill one room with "sound", just get a Google home, or a lot of people swear by Sonos (though they seem super overpriced to me). Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 04-08-2017 Already have a Google home. I'm not impressed for it as a speaker especially one with a plug. Currently we already have a big old onkyo home 7.2 setup with a speaker channel for the back deck. It has a chromecast audio but the sound kinda sucks honestly and I'm using an optical cable and everything. But Thats fine for the downstairs. Bookshelf style would be for my bedroom. A sound bar could be an option I guess if everyone thinks they're comparable to a comparably priced set of bookshelf speakers. Could be better I suppose since you'd have the sub plus you'd get the surround sound and better sound quality for the tv while I'm at it. Portable would be to take to front deck or maybe out by the fire pit. Maybe the driveway during corn hole or something if the garage stereo wasn't able to reach that far. So that would probably be like a cordless bt speaker but maybe a corded one could work if it was that much better. I like the UE Boom if I find one on sale or something but that would require a chromecast audio too. And then there's the vizio 360 stuff but the reviews seemed mixed on all vizio stuff. Other companies make similar chromecast enabled stuff. I guess I wouldn't need cast enabled if it was on bt but options aren't bad either. Avoiding even looking at sonos stuff becuse of price. Great build quality at a reasonable price. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 04-09-2017 I have KEF for bookshelf. They're a pretty good balance of cost and quality. I know several have them. Are they only good for TV theater stuff or can they handle music pretty decently too? Which one does everyone have and do you wish you had a different one? Sent from my VK810 4G using Tapatalk Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JPolen01 - 04-09-2017 Love my Vizio 5.1. I only use it for TV and movies though. Can't comment on the music aspect. Although I feel it would do fine because the subwoofer thumps and the audio is very clear. Can connect anything via Bluetooth as well. Added bonus is the sub and rear satellite speakers can be placed wherever you want. I think Mikey got this one too on our recommendation and has liked it Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 04-09-2017 soundbars are for bitches edit: lee you have 11,000 posts! I know it's still too early for programming, but I'm gonna be getting a bigger TV in the next few months and I'd like to keep what I buy for at least five years. I did some random looking, but I haven't really zeroed on anything. I've had good luck with our current 55" Sony, but I have no idea who the leader in the 4k clubhouse is. I don't really have a budget, as long as I get a kick ass TV for the money. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JPolen01 - 04-10-2017 Is anyone really the leader in 4k? I thought it was more of the leader in TVs in general. We have 2 samsungs and I really like both of them. One plasma and one LED. Good color and picture quality if fantastic in HD. Sound is pretty good too for the LED version using only the built-in speaker. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 04-10-2017 JPolen01 Wrote:Is anyone really the leader in 4k? I thought it was more of the leader in TVs in general. I'm not sure that's true, given some manufacturers are using OLED and others aren't... at least per my research. |
