I love that M3 CS but knowing BMW it will cost like $100k, then because they're making so few of them, dealers will want a markup on top of that. I wish they'd stop playing this extremely-limited-production game and actually try to come close to meeting demand.

It's not news or anything, but I noticed a yet-to-be-released facelifted '18 GTI at Katie's last weekend when I went for Goodspeed's meet up. The interior looks largely unchanged from the 16+ models, and the exterior is also pretty much unchanged with the exception of a new bumper treatment and slightly different headlights.
I thought I'd like the little cannard looking details around the fog lights but it just kind of makes the car more fussy. Also not sure why they aren't keeping the red styling line in the headlights.

Yeah I liked the older style headlight like Joey posted much better, but even some of those had the red line that flows into the headlight housing. I'm not really familiar enough with GTI's to tell which sub model actually gets that.

I just realized the one in my photos doesn't have HIDs, and the red one shows what the new lighting package models will look like. I wouldn't be surprised if the US version still ends up looking a little different though.
That's pretty much what they did with the 15-17s, you only get the little red strip if you spring for the lighting pack.

So a totally loaded GT2 3.3T is gonna be over $55K out the door? I honestly can't answer your question. That makes 100% zero sense to me why you would buy that car

Moving on from the Kia, last night was the Tesla unveiling of their electric semi truck...and a surprise unveiling of the 2nd gen Roadster.
The semi will have a 500 mile range and 0-60 (cab only) of 5 seconds.

Musk claims the roadster will do 0-60 in 1.9 seconds which would make it the first car to do so in under 2 seconds. A top speed of over 250mph. And it's beautiful

Crazy...and I think I saw the roadster will have a range of 600miles? That is an absolute game changer.
The semi truck is interesting although it's really only going to be good for the local routes (ie a port to a distro facility) for now. Down time is even more critical in the trucking industry so until they figure out some kind of uber range semi this one won't be revolutionary. The autonomous driving aspect will be a game changer though

There are a lot of short-range haulers around the country that I think could make use of this. Also I believe per DOT regulations truckers can legally drive 11 hours per day and at 65 miles per hour, without stopping, that is about 715 miles. They could in theory drive almost the entire 11 hours on a charge, stop for a break, re-charge and keep going. Will be interesting to see how the technology advances.

Yeah the challenge is when trucks and drivers are rotating (ie a driver comes off of his route and a new one at a hub takes over, or whatever it might be). The quick charge is going to be super key for this to be viable for a lot of companies. Vast improvement would need to be made for this to be effective in OTR situations, especially since the infrastructure really isn't there yet (still)
