I do agree the game situation is kinda lame though. I think both boxes were released well before the games had a chance to catch up. I can't imagine doing without it at this point but as I've mentioned many times before, I only buy 2-3 games a year.
I still don't see why you like that interface so much. Doesn't it get annoying when half the time the XB doesn't recognize the command, or when you are talking to your spouse and it triggers the system, or the reduced video quality, or the lagginess? Is it that big of a deal to use remotes?

I don't have that problem, I would say it understands my command about 90% of the time now.

Haven't noticed any reduced video quality in the slightest or lagginess?

As Apoc stated, I find myself nearly saying XBOX ON or Xbox Volume UP or XBOX WATCH ESPN when I'm at friends or on other TV's. Idk, I guess it just works for me.

My shit hears what I say less than 50% of the time.

I have another friend who says his is flawless. Maybe I have a busted Kinect?

+1

I haven't had any of the problems described. Last night we watched some live TV, a DVR'd show, two shows from Amazon Instant Video and Game of Thrones streamed from my laptop using voice commands or a few clicks with XBox Glass with zero issue.

I actually catch myself wanting to tell the XBox to turn things on/off in other rooms because I'm so used to it.

Doubtful, try a different placement of the Kinect (and re-run the voice test thingy) or try not yelling. Seriously. I realized after I stopped yelling/raising my voice to it, she listened lol.

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Mike - 05-15-2014

I've rerun that thing a zillion times. There is one place for my kinect. It is 7ft straight in front of me and behind the speaker. No excuse for it to not hear well.

Let's talk about what's really important, not your shitty xbox not working right

Some of the most well executed FPS games ever. Definitely looking forward to picking up the series again since probably college

Wolfenstein: Super awesome so far! Got it for "free" with trade-in values...sweet! Gamestop Pro is a pretty solid alternative to the Amazon trade ins...especially if you buy a pre-owned game there and trade it back in. I even had like $30 left over to put down on Mariokart for my wife! I used to save all of my games but after realizing that after I beat them I rarely play them again (unless COD or a fun multiplayer game) it made a lot more sense just to trade them in and get as much value as I could for them.

I like Wolfenstein's perk system, it lets you work toward unlocking any / all perks you want. Very sweet. I received an invite to Doom Beta but I guess they haven't released a date yet so not sure what I am supposed to do with it...is it part of the game? Is it a separate download? I don't even know, I am going to go back to killing robotic nazi zombie dogs!

Wolfenstein is a "gonna buy later" for me. I want it, but I don't wanna pay 60 bucks for it. I traded in KZ and BF4 (which was getting a little round about the edges) for WatchDogs tho. 6 days...

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 05-21-2014

Yeah Watchdogs looks swweeettt. I would have doubled down on that one but I figured if I was going to get a "me" game I should get my wife one too Smile

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 05-26-2014

Just beat Wolfenstein after a surprisingly long number of hours. They certainly give you your money's worth for the game. The storyline is pretty awesome so if you like FPS's it will keep you busy for a while. So many satisfying guns to use to slay Nazis. With that said a HUGE flaw in the game is the weapon selection system. Itis not easy, it doesn't seem to provide a way that makes sense to set up two guns that you want to use (the selection process is weird) and the gun selection button happens to be the same button you use to throw a grenade. That's a fun surprise when you're in the middle of a firefight and are trying to switch to a weapon with ammo left in it

On the harder difficulties the game has a couple of checkpoints that are absurdly hard. Like you are thrown through a window into the corner of a room with few guns, little ammo, no cover and about 20 bad guys with 1 armored fire soldier bearing down on you. Definitely a recommended buy, it took me a couple of power sessions to get through but it was well worth it! Hoping and assuming the trade in value will be pretty high...there is an extra 40% bonus when trading on Watchdogs so I am hoping to get it almost for free~

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 05-26-2014

Mariokart paid for with the trade in, yet another game i've basically gotten for free. Had about $7 left to put a preorder down on COD:AW which looks pretty awesome from the teaser video: http://www.callofduty.com/advancedwarfa ... al-trailer

Apparently Mariokart has a registration code for Club Nintendo that lets you download one of these for free so that's sweet:

Nintendoland
Super Mario Bros U
Game & Wario
Pikmin 3
Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Sonic Lost World
Mario & Sonic at the Soichi 2014 Winter Olympic Games
Wii Party U
Wonderful 101
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate

Apparently if you preorder COD they give you a new preorder bonus every month until it comes out? I got some skin packs for BO2 and Ghosts (neither of which I play anymore) and two posters, but apparently I will be getting more stuff. Unfortunately the Elder Scrolls online release I found out is getting pushed back indefinitely. So I will probably just play the indie games on the PS4 for a while until I see if Watchdogs is my style.

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Mike - 05-26-2014

Ghosts demo just came out. Downloaded last night and played a round today. What a horrid game. Easily the worst in the franchise IMO. Felt so clunky. Very glad I didn't buy it.

Smart man...single player campaign was cool like they usually are but multiplayer was a disaster and not fun at all.

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Apoc - 05-26-2014

I liked the campaign, but I didn't play a single multiplayer game. I just beat it and traded it in.

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 05-27-2014

Also good to know for future reference (because I dabbled in Amazon trade ins):
Amazon trade in value for Wolfenstein (as of 5/27): $27.38
Gamestop trade in value (as of yesterday with Pro bonus and Mariokart bonus): $35.00

We have a Gamestop like 3 miles down the road so it's not inconvenient for me to get there and the guys are knowledgeable and keep me up to date on what I should / shouldn't buy.

Re: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Mike - 05-27-2014

Friend has played Watch Dogs. Said it is a snoozefest. That's all I've got. I'm hitting the review sites now.

Review sites seem to disagree with him. Not overwhelmingly "OMG THIS IS THE SHIT," but overwhelmingly positive.

Could have gotten $50 on eBay. Then I suppose they take their cut and you've got $3 shipping. GS is typically a rip, but not too bad in the case of new games, I suppose.
