Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 01-18-2017 WRXtranceformed Wrote:Anyone pick up a wireless charger for their Samsungs? It's seriously the best thing ever. I snagged two for my wife and I as stocking stuffers for Christmas. I use my cell as my work line and am connected all day to a bluetooth earpiece, so the already meh battery life of the S7 gets pretty dismal during the day. I've got the angled fast charge wireless pad and it is perfect to be able to charge my phone while I'm at my desk using it, see incoming calls, etc. The fast charge works great wirelessly even through my Incipio case, albeit maybe a LITTLE bit slower than when I plug it in. I went generic and haven't had a problem. I've considered switching to other phones, but I actually don't think I ever want to live without wireless charging again. The only downside is it doesn't fast charge, so I only use them as nightstand and car chargers. $13 angled charger: http://amzn.to/2jo2UOr Car mount: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PY1HEMM/ Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 01-18-2017 Nice guys, I was actually curious how the generic chargers work but it sounds like just fine. To be honest, one of the cool nerdy features that I really liked about the new Tacoma when I was cross shopping them was the wireless Qi charging in the console. Just drop your phone in there and it's constantly charging...COOL Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 01-18-2017 Some brands suck (e.g. Duracell), but I've have good lick with RAVpower. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 01-18-2017 Apoc Wrote:Some brands suck (e.g. Duracell), but I've have good lick with RAVpower.I'm a big fan of RAVpower too. I have one of their larger charge packs and bought the "lipstick" style packs as stocking stuffers for the family this year. Definitely well made stuff Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 01-18-2017 Anker is my go to, but RAVpower seems to be legit. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Ken - 01-19-2017 $500 for Samsung 55in 4K with HDR http://deals.kinja.com/just-in-time-for-the-big-game-score-a-55-4k-samsung-f-1791372084 Things to note - only has one input that supports 4K (as most sets, annoyingly, do as well), it's the HDR10 standard which is viewed as slightly inferior (but is the one used by PS4 and XB1s.) Other than a really solid deal if you're looking to upgrade anyway. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 01-19-2017 I'm thinking if I was to do something right now, I'd go with the Vizio p series (as soon as it goes on sale). All but one port is HDR compatible and supports both HDR formats and is Chromecast built in so I think I could control it with Google home. But definitely not a steal right now. It's like double the price of their m series Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JPolen01 - 02-12-2017 Verizon bringing back the Unlimited Plan. I've been saying this would happen for a long time. I think this may be cheaper than the 8 GB plan the wife and I are on. Will be calling this week to find out. http://cnet.co/2kA539l Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - BLINGMW - 03-12-2017 My DSL provider is creeping up to $60/mo for their slowest plan and it occurs to me that a 4G hotspot might do just as well (and actually be faster). But for home use I need something on the order of 100GB/mo and most "unlimited" 4G plans really top out around 22GB (TPOmobile gets you to 50) and then take you to 2G. :| Anyone found a really unlimited plan for such a thing? Even unlimited 3Gish speeds (5-7mbps) would be fine. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - HAULN-SS - 03-12-2017 Sprint has a better data only plan than verizon. I think I was paying 70$ a month for 30-40GB or something like that. The problem is, from the same location, a verizon hotspot would pull 50mbps, and sprint would pull 4mbps. I did both for years when the DSL became unusable at my WV house. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JPolen01 - 03-12-2017 I don't think you're likely to find any cell phone carrier with plans like that. I would be surprised if you did. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 03-16-2017 So our "promotional rate" for 500down/200up internet just expired and it's jumping to $79.95/mo. I can upgrade through the remainder of my contract to 1gigdown/1gigup for $99.95/mo. Think it's worth it? Should I chase world dominance with a faster than light (FTL) internets speed for $20 / month more than I have to pay now? (which is $25/mo more than I was paying) Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 03-16-2017 WRXtranceformed Wrote:So our "promotional rate" for 500down/200up internet just expired and it's jumping to $79.95/mo. The throughput of everything you mentioned does not require 1gb. I have just as much crap and am fine on 100mb. Even if you were to check them from outside of your network, that would mean you weren't home and therefore, not using the internet connection. Leave it as is, 500 down is plenty. As i said in the other thread, i have two streams of Directvnow and/or netflix going on at the same time, with Toni and I both surfing the web on laptops or phone and have no issues at 60down. Hell, i even host a plex server that friends access and have seen them doing that at the same time and been fine. Save yourself the money and stay at 500. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JPolen01 - 03-16-2017 500mb down is absurd. I can't even believe you are willing to pay more money for 1gb. I think we have the promotional 50/50 with fios and it never hiccups with the two of us on phones/laptops every night while watching netflix or streaming a movie on the firestick. Even if you were to check them from outside of your network, that would mean you weren't home and therefore, not using the internet connection.Nah the ones I would have to get would all connect wirelessly. Due to the way my house / attic is built (and the fact it was a spec home so I couldn't have them build in conduits or pull wire before the drywall got closed up) I pretty much have to go this route unless I wanted to tear my home apart. That settles it, the MM tribe has spoken, I will be content with my current earth-shattering speeds Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Ken - 03-16-2017 WRXtranceformed Wrote:Ken Wrote:The camera and doorbell system are LAN, aren't they? That's still LAN, albeit WLAN, they won't affect your internet speeds. Your access point/router on the other hand, may need an upgrade once that is in since the poor little processor directing traffic may just freak out with all those devices. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 03-16-2017 Ken Wrote:I've got a wifi range extender that can hardwire in and act as a second network. Would that help to maybe set the cameras up on their own second network through that vs. have them all go through our current router? Our current router seems to be pretty gangster but it's a big house and it's probably stretched already in terms of connected devicesWRXtranceformed Wrote:Ken Wrote:The camera and doorbell system are LAN, aren't they?
