That's cause everyone that drives one is either and 50+ white guy or a pro sports player. Neither are prolly that down with the internets.

Or powdercoating the stock 18"s.

Re: Project: TL Type S - WRXtranceformed - 10-17-2011

Car finally showed up from Cali. Going through NC inspection and getting detailed then taking delivery tomorrow mornin Smile

Then immediately driving it 3hours down to my least favorite city in the south, Atlanta. Should have some good first impressions after its first road trip!

Biznis must be good down there in NC!

Re: Project: TL Type S - WRXtranceformed - 10-17-2011

Haha man at this point in my life I look at cars like this as a business expense. I spend so much time in it that it's like my mobile office. I sure as heck write off the mileage like one Tongue

I already sold my Jpipe for a quick $300 shipped, the net from that should pay for the window tinting (I don't think the caddy has the tints). Still have the RSB to get rid of. I've been looking at mods still (they actually make a turbo kit for this thing!) but I don't really want to void the CPO warranty, so I'll probably wait until after 100k like I did with the TL. Maybe do a resonator / x pipe / muffler swap for some better sound, nothing crazy.

Re: Project: TL Type S - Jeff - 10-17-2011

OK I missed it, what did you get? 08 CTS?

Re: Project: TL Type S - WRXtranceformed - 10-17-2011

Yeah, 08 with the two premium packages and I think the upgraded suspension (FE3?). 26k on the clock CPO / warranty to 100k.

Re: Project: TL Type S - WRXtranceformed - 10-18-2011

Love the car so far, a couple of first impressions before I make the long drive (pics will come up tonight after I get to the hotel)
- This car seems to have better pickup than the white one I drove in Hickory. I have a feeling that car was more beat up than this one mechanically.
- Paint is not in fantastic shape, but I was expecting it from a 3 year old car. Plenty of swirl marks, a couple of scratches here and there, but that's just me being anal. I will probably have a pro detailer come in and really give it a good shellacking. Too bad that one kid here on this forum isn't closer, i'd give him the business!
- Shift knob has a crack in the wood trim and there are a few curb marks on the wheels, other than that the car is pretty impeccable. If it bothers me enough I may replace the knob, and even though I like the chrome wheels I was probably going to have them powdercoated black anyway. I REALLY like the style of them
- This particular car is as loaded as it gets (original sticker apparently was over $50k!!), but it is missing Bluetooth (wasn't an option until mid-way 2008), and a backup camera (has park-assist instead). Ironically, it has voice-activated controls, heated windshield fluid and active headlights, but no Bluetooth Tongue It is honestly not a big deal to me, as I have not even really used BT much lately...but I may spend the $150ish to get an aftermarket system professionally installed. I will miss the camera, but it does have the side mirror tilt when put in reverse so it's easier to back into parking spaces, so I'm good with that.
- AC seats in the south?? F Yes.

Overall happy with the purchase, especially happy with the trade in value (ended up getting a couple hundred more since a car payment processed), and super happy with my interest rate (BoA gave me 2.74%). Pics and road impressions to come Smile

Re: Project: TL Type S - CaptainHenreh - 10-18-2011

Depending on the aftermarket unit, you might be able to keep your camera.

Re: Project: TL Type S - WRXtranceformed - 10-18-2011

Wait what do you mean keep the camera

I'll take some better pics when I get back to Charlotte...it's super rainy out in Atlanta.

This car is definitely a step up from the Acura. It literally ate the miles on my 3.5 hour trip yesterday. Even with the FE3 suspension, this car just has a road presence and comfort that never existed with the TL. The sound system BUMPS in this car compared to the ELS in the TL...much heavier bass. I absolutely love the LED strip in the headlights and the interior lighting underneath all of the wood trim and your feet inside the cabin at night....gives the cabin such a sharp presence. One of the big challenges I see so far is hardwiring my radar detector, as there really is nowhere to put the remote panel.

Overall, definitely a step up as far as progressing within the luxury class. The TL is a great entry-level luxury vehicle, this car kind of takes it to the next level and i'm glad I could get a good deal on it (and on my trade in). I almost bought this car 3 years ago before I bought my TL, now it seems like it was worth the wait.
