Re: The market is BEGGING.... - ScottyB - 10-31-2011 D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:ScottyB Wrote:Subaru has already promised a "higher performance" model with a "little less than 300 horsepower". err, yeah, forgot about that. i think the 200hp version is looking at 0-60 in around 6....another 100 horsies would be mighty quick, and that's not even getting into how easy it is to unlock another 70-80hp from the turbo subys. Re: The market is BEGGING.... - CaptainHenreh - 10-31-2011 Well, to be fair, Subaru said "under 300hp", I've not read anywhere that said "a little less". Technically 220hp is "under 300hp" and "higher performance" than the FT-86. Re: The market is BEGGING.... - Kaan - 10-31-2011 sounds like a genesis coupe Re: The market is BEGGING.... - CaptainHenreh - 10-31-2011 Kaan Wrote:sounds like a genesis coupe About 800 pounds lighter, but yeah. Re: The market is BEGGING.... - Kaan - 10-31-2011 it will never come in at the advertised weight. we go through this with every freaking car. Only things I can think of are the Cayman and the Exige S, both of which are much, much more expensive. This has the same horsepower as the Civic Si, but is about 200 lbs lighter and is RWD. Seems like a pretty good deal to me :dunno: Re: The market is BEGGING.... - Kaan - 10-31-2011 how many times has the crash test added weight? one car (and they are talking about going to 2200lbs for a 2012 MX5) makes weight and it means this one will? we have missed the low end of the weight too many times to be locked in to such a weight. Re: The market is BEGGING.... - .RJ - 10-31-2011 The range of weights from the test/prototype cars has been 2400-2700 lbs depending on who you believe, so its not out of the question. Or you could just keep making noise  Re: The market is BEGGING.... - Kaan - 10-31-2011 G.Irish Wrote:Kaan Wrote:needs more HP for the 2600lbs coupe.Name one other coupe that weighs under 3000 lbs and has more than 200 hp. Seems like a pretty good deal to me :dunno: with the ease at which people get numbers out of a K series... honda can easily up the power in the Si. rumor is they will. but thats always the rumor. Re: The market is BEGGING.... - .RJ - 10-31-2011 Anything more than 200hp in a FWD street car with struts is going to start getting into other compromises pretty quickly. Re: The market is BEGGING.... - Kaan - 10-31-2011 double wish it again ![]() Re: The market is BEGGING.... - .RJ - 10-31-2011 Good luck with that. Re: The market is BEGGING.... - Kaan - 10-31-2011 .RJ Wrote:Good luck with that. the 2012 Miata is supposed to weight 2200lbs... just in time for you to get one RJ! Re: The market is BEGGING.... - G.Irish - 10-31-2011 Kaan Wrote:I think you will be sorely disappointed with the Si for the foreseeable future. Honda is pushing up the Minor Model Change for the Civic but that is to address complaints about the interior and the NVH, nothing to do with the Si. The Si has a seriously gimped version of the K24 (integrated exhaust manifold, no exhaust VTEC) so the only way they could give it a power bump is by putting a different engine in there altogether. Right now, there aren't any K-Series with exhaust-VTEC or a regular exhaust manifold in the entire Honda lineup.G.Irish Wrote:Kaan Wrote:needs more HP for the 2600lbs coupe.Name one other coupe that weighs under 3000 lbs and has more than 200 hp. Seems like a pretty good deal to me :dunno: Not to say it's impossible, but chances are the Civic Si is not going to get any better in this generation. Even if it does, it'll probably still be heavier than the FT86/BRZ and it's still FWD. Re: The market is BEGGING.... - D_Eclipse9916 - 10-31-2011 And its still a FWD honda. They got rid of their only two good cars, the s2000 and the nsx. ............(waits for the hate) Re: The market is BEGGING.... - JPolen01 - 10-31-2011 I thought the civic si had variable intake and exhaust cams? Maybe I am wrong? Re: The market is BEGGING.... - Kaan - 10-31-2011 nope... not any more. the mini odessy Si had intake side only like the base RSX, the RSX-S had the intake and exhaust vtec... i think the Z1 Si's got the double vtec for a couple of years before they got handcuffed again. that being said... you can always get more power with a came profile. thats why they varry the timing and profile right? to say it cant be done is a little extreme |
