Went with a CLOSED full version server: "MM Test", pw: "MM". Someone join! :?

ok full version it is.

- BLINGMW - 11-07-2006

anyone want to play tonight?

- ScottyB - 11-09-2006

i'm starting to really get frustrated with LFS. i've hit a total wall -- my lap times are super consistent....consistently slow. when i play online (getting harder to find time these days im afraid) i'm faster than all the silly n00bs but the regulars walk me, so every race i'm stuck in 3rd or 4th place, basically racing the clock.

whats really killing me is braking. i usually do ok with my exit speed and line but i just can't brake well to save my life. then if i go and tweak my brake settings, i usually have to screw with my suspension a bit to compensate for the different strength/distribution, which in turn screws up my grip in the turns and my corner speed. then i have to look at a different line, which ends up being slower anyhow....and back to square one.

RRRRaARRrrrgghhHH! i keep thinking "hey i'll just play more, i need to concentrate and focus, then i'll get a better feel for it." well, all i can tell you is that i'm a hell of a drifter but my times...not so much.

its still fun but i really hope i'm better than this in real life

- BLINGMW - 11-09-2006

Are you set up to safely trail brake? I prefer backing off the brake strength until lockup won't happen with a warm tire on flat surface. And I bias it slightly more towards the front than really necessary. Then I can reach my mark, slam the brakes full on (I also have braking help turned on, provides a little ABS), and slowly release as I'm turning in. There are a couple corners that I've kept moving my braking point further and further to find that I'm almost entirely trail braking, and surprised the car is up for it.

I try to keep my setups stable and easy to drive, so braking isn't a hairy experience and trail braking isn't hard to do. I'm sure someone with a lot of time and patience could tweak it to be JUST right on the edge, but I'm sure my approach uses at least 90% of the brake potential. The "regulars", who beat me as well, don't seem to be doing it in braking.

We could meet up tonight and do some testing! 8)

- HAULN-SS - 11-09-2006

- BLINGMW - 11-09-2006
