I think its same year as yours Scott but definitely same generation. I've passed along what you did in hopes that new Trans fluid solves some of his issues. He's not mechanically inclined so its sort of like talking to the wall, but I'm hoping he trusts me enough to listen and if anything get Jason to at least look at it. Definitely have him adjust his clutch pedal....that made a massive difference in shift quality. For whatever reason these cars came from the factory with the clutch barely dissengaging during shifts so they will drag a bit on a fast shift and grind. He would need to crawl under the dash board though so it's probably out of his league. After that definitely have new fluid put in probably every 25k miles. He might still be on the original stuff. RE: You're My Boy, Blue - ScottyB - 10-31-2018 went out to have some fun on some mildly twisty roads north of town last week and managed to cook the hell out of the brakes on the way back, in an order of magnitude i haven't seen since i drove my parents' old 1996 grand caravan down Mill Mountain in Roanoke way too fast as a teenager. by the end of the road i had a firm pedal but absolutely nothing there, to the point i had to glance down and make sure i wasn't also pushing the gas pedal with the side of my foot. first time i came to a stop at the end of the road, a couple wisps of smoke over the hood and i had to air the brake pad stench out of the interior. this was a pretty weak road in terms of elevation and length. just having some fun in 2nd and 3rd gears. whatever pads were put on this, they must have been the cheapest house brand thing they could dredge out of the back. they're going straight to the trash. ordered up some front/rear Stoptech Sport pads from KNS, which are the same pads i had on the front of the 2.5RS. they were really good to me and are in my opinion the absolute best deal going for a bombproof street pad that doesn't drive like ass and turn your wheels black. $112 bucks shipped for both ends, can't beat that.

Glad it was manageable and you've got some better pads on the way! RE: You're My Boy, Blue - rherold9 - 11-01-2018 Oh yes, Stoptech Sport pads. I very much approve. Very underrated pad that I have used on both my Mazda3 and Miata on track and street. I've absolutely loved it both times. Fade resistance with dot4 fluid was insane for a street pad. Takes about a good 15 minutes of romping on track before you got any signs of fade on the two lighter cars I've owned. I tracked the shit out of my miata with multiple drivers in the summer with those pads. But Ive read that those stoptechs are about as close as it comes to those. You're My Boy, Blue - ViPER1313 - 11-01-2018 I will give a shout out for EBC yellow stuff pads. Pricy but great feel and lots of bite with minimal dust, no squeal and they are good on rotors. RE: You're My Boy, Blue - Goodspeed - 11-01-2018 Are the Sport pads a different compound than the Street Performance pads, or are they the same thing and I'm getting confused? Planning on brakes for the IS soon and you've piqued my interest in these. I also have Carbotech 1521's in a box for the FD, but if whichever these are trump those, I might have to reconsider. I...er, also have EBC rotors as well stacked up in storage. Are those junk too DJ? (10-31-2018, 07:33 AM).RJ Wrote: In for brake pad replacement hilarity

Planning on brakes for the IS soon and you've piqued my interest in these. Sport pads are the new name for the previous Street Performance pads. My guess is to significantly distinguish their Street vs Street Performance pads I assume. Probably the similar names were confusing people RE: You're My Boy, Blue - D_Eclipse9916 - 11-01-2018 (11-01-2018, 03:34 PM)Goodspeed Wrote: Are the Sport pads a different compound than the Street Performance pads, or are they the same thing and I'm getting confused? RE: You're My Boy, Blue - ScottyB - 11-01-2018 the Carbotech 1521's are essentially identical to the GLOC GS1 (the guy that created the GLOC company came from Carbotech), which in turn are bascially Carbotech Bobcats....maybe. great for the street, is what i'm actually trying to say. rherold9 Wrote:Sport pads are the new name for the previous Street Performance pads. Sports are the old Street Performance, which is what i had on my RS. great pad, i beat 'em up at VIR all weekend at my first HPDE and then immediately drove 2 hours home on them and never thought twice about it. again, there's better out there but not for the money. Evan Wrote:Its a shame the axxis ultimate formulation changed. i didn't know that...i ran Ultimates on my old accord and liked them pretty well but never properly pushed them like you did. by the time it was time to replace them i tried something else and kind of forgot about the brand. RE: You're My Boy, Blue - ScottyB - 11-06-2018 first shot of my custom shift knob (on left) from WC Lathewerks, shipping out today. white copolymer with the painted shift pattern. hoping it gives the shifter that racing/homologation look with enough red to tie in with the other accents in the interior.
RE: You're My Boy, Blue - JPolen01 - 11-06-2018 Looks like quality work. Not sure how I feel about the cylinder shape and color. Not sure how I feel about the cylinder shape and color. its a gamble for me. i had a white sphere knob in my RS that i really liked but it wasn't quite right for my hand. the stock Si knob is more of a teardrop that feels great but i was shooting for something that's a little taller in profile. i hemmed and hawed over this far too long and just pulled the trigger on this particular combo before i lost my hair completely. You're My Boy, Blue - Sijray21 - 11-06-2018 I used to have a cylindrical knob in the integra I used to own. It seems a bit funky, but I liked the feel. I have a sphere knob now, but I'd gladly.... (wait for it)... shift back to the cylindrical one You're My Boy, Blue - ViPER1313 - 11-06-2018 You are both wrong
RE: You're My Boy, Blue - ScottyB - 11-06-2018 The red stitching really accentuates the supple donkey dick profile. Nice. |
