Id say that smart people who buy volkswagens buy them new then dump them before the warranty is up.
I thought about that after i posted, but since the backseat is no bigger than the golf hatchback (and the focus Im replacing), its a no go for me.
driving my wifes focus all this week also made me realize how much i hate fwd, even on a commuter car.

they took years to grow on me, and I still prefer the gray inserts, but IT'S A MANUAL NOGGY S4 AVANT! with 80k for $15k!

edit: any comments around the major PITA (and 1/2 the price of the car) of replacing timing chains, please see Chan's statement.

There is an article on jalopnik about how wagon enthusiasts have caused the market for old, high mile, used wagons to skyrocket.
Honestly these used wagons just arent worth it IMO.
