Glad it was a hassle free exchange, Ryan. I was going back and forth on the pixel/nexus a couple of months ago but ultimately I couldn't justify the extra $500+. I ended up cheeping out and getting the Nexus 5x and have been real happy with it. (please don't tell me what I'm missing out on) I was coming from a Galaxy Nexus, so anything would have been an upgrade. It's still on os 7.0 with some patches, but 7.1 should be coming soon. I think this phone should be good for at least one more year of updates before they eol it. We also cut over to google fi and been pretty happy with it. Cost savings over vzw are nice, although it sometimes freaks out if you start a call on wifi and then walk out of the house. I don't know if it'd use it if my job depended on making mobile phone calls all day, but it's been fine.

Great to see people breaking off from the heard and going pure google.

This. I only had one skinned Android phone before I decided 'never again' and I've been very happy with my Nexus 6 and Nexus 6P since then. You guys are starting to make me want to sell my 6P and grab a Pixel now...

Love to see if there is an MM price on that 6P so that i can get GoogleFi and not use my work phone as personal all the time. Big Grin

Should we quote your cheeping/cheaping screw-up instead? Tongue

Fack. Can I blame my stupidity on 8 years of severe sleep deprivation? I really don't remember being this bad at words

I just got the regular Pixel due to having a tablet/laptop so I don't need a huge screen. I had no preference in color besides not getting blue, so I ended up with the silver/white. I went with 32GB because I don't need more than that. Don't really store anything on my phone anymore. Should get more storage if you are planning on storing music, photos, or lots of apps.

Edit: I should say my lemon was a black Pixel and I didn't like it as much as the silver/white. Black hides the nice looks of the phone, imo.

Last edit: my only gripe after having this phone for a few days is battery life is meh. Not any better than when my S5 was new over two years ago. It's not terrible but it only lasts a day and a half with medium-light use. I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't last a full day with heavy use. I wont be using it very heavy so it won't bother me, but for other people that will be a problem. Other than that 0 complaints.

I disagree. This phone has the best battery I've ever used. Sunday I unplugged it at 6am and had 80 percent when I got home at 4PM but that was pretty light use. I'm going on 11 hours of pretty normal use and have 41 % left which is pretty great.

I got the 32 GB in Quite Black and I honestly haven't even seen the phone without the case on and I never plan to. My POS Galaxy S5 looks mint condition after 2 years of very heavy use because it never came out of the life proof except to go into another lifeproof. It's a shame I can never admire the build quality of these cases but at least I never worry. My previous phone before before the S5 was actually coffee stained behind the battery from 2 years of being in my pocket at work. Maybe once I don't work in a restaurant I'll get a smaller case.

I hope Google Assistant gets updated soon, but it's already miles ahead of Siri IMO with the way it uses context clue to continue your conversation.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Jake - 11-28-2016

Yeah, I'm thinking a 32 GB phone would be fine. My last iPhone was 64 GB, my S7E and S7A are, uh, actually I have no idea how much storage they have. Everything I do is cloud-based now - music via Spotify, photos via Google Photos - so the two big storage-sucks are offloaded for the most part.

Got my S7 Active in the mail after work today. So far, I like it more than the Edge. The build quality seems way better and it strikes me as a far sturdier phone (which it should, given it's an S7 with a permanent Otterbox around it). Been setting it up this evening and I definitely want to see how it performs before hopping on the Pixel train. The battery is 4,000 mAh which is yuge. Maybe it'll last longer than the Edge did Big Grin

What settings are you using? Wi-Fi on? Screen brightness on auto? Syncing set to push?

24 hours later according to my phone I'm at 14% and I unplugged at 96%. Things using the most battery:

Edit: That's like 60% texting and the rest social media browsing/internet browsing.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Senor_Taylor - 11-28-2016

I have my data settings and most things slightly restricted and I'm on wifi any time I'm doing anything because the only place I use it without wifi is at work where I get maybe 10 minutes total a shift to use my phone. I also use the night light feature and a few other hidden features.

Also, this is the first phone I've had a glass screen protector and it's so much better than plastic ones with the waterproof cases.

A toddler could carry a more intelligent than Siri. It's honestly pathetic how poorly it works.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Senor_Taylor - 11-29-2016

This phone keeps getting cooler and cooler. It comes with an adaptor to plug in USB devices so I installed an emulator and plugged in my pc gamepad... and it works. I've been trying to unbrick my modded PSP to do just this... and now I don't have to!

Yeah, I think a lot of the newer Android stuff support that through the USB adapter. Someone on Reddit mentioned trying a bunch of different devices and keyboards/mice work, as do most gamepads and, oddly enough, audio gear for music production.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - RawrImAMonster - 11-29-2016

Haven't gotten a chance to play with my phone too much with all the moving going on, but I'm going to have to get a gameboy emulator for slow days at work now that I have an android phone.

So far this phone has had way better battery life than my iPhone 6 had when it was new.

I'll post in here after I've gotten a chance to play with a Pixel to see if I wanna upgrade early.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 12-19-2016

So our laptop is dead, my larger phone (6P) has replaced my tablet, and I am now guaranteed at least 2nd place winnings in my Fantasy League.....I want to get a Chromebook.

Suggestions? Should I wait for something that is on the horizon?

Requirements:
Chrome OS
<= $350
Touch Screen
"360degree" keyboard or remove completely
Google Play compatible
SD slot (SD or Micro)
4GB ram
32GB

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 12-19-2016

In that config and price range, it's pretty much a throwaway machine. I'm not sure you'd get anything by waiting.

I have no experience with Chromebooks...
