Re: Automotive News Discussion - CaptainHenreh - 01-10-2017 Well, lookie there: Car & Driver' Wrote:The only transmission is a development of the K900’s automatic and uses a tuned-mass damper on the flywheel to help reduce torsional vibration through the drivetrain. The optional all-wheel-drive system features torque vectoring, while the rear-drive version has a standard limited-slip differential. source. That’s what I worry about. The last Optima I drove—again, a fine machine, and one I liked better than I thought I would!—was close to $40,000, loaded. This will clearly slot above that sedan, and in top-trim GT form with most of the boxes checked, will probably sticker in at the mid-$40,000 range. (To be clear that’s just an estimate on my part; pricing has not been announced, but after seeing this thing in person and sitting in it I can tell you that reasonably equipped it’s no $25,000 car.) Re: Automotive News Discussion - Ken - 01-10-2017 WRXtranceformed Wrote:CaptainHenreh Wrote:I also dont' think anyone will buy one but a guy can hope. I don't think they plan on selling much, to be honest. Much like the Genesis was more or less a way for Hyundai to begin to forge into higher markets, the Stinger will do the same. They'd be idiots if they assume it's going to sell like hotcakes. IDK, depending on when it's released and how good the deals are when new, i'll take a gander. IDK, depending on when it's released and how good the deals are when new, i'll take a gander.I guarantee this car will be a bargain 2-3 years after it is released. I would let someone else take that gamble for what they are going to sell these at Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 01-10-2017 Just got back from Detroit last night, I might be able to upload some pics at lunch here. JPolen01 Wrote:How about the Alfa Romeo Stelvio? Kind of reminds me of an X5, Macan, CX5 mashup. The Stelvio is pretty good looking, the butt doesn't look bloated at all, that's just the camera angle. I will say that it pretty much looks like a tall hatchback kind of crossover, not unlike the Mercedes GLA, just maybe a bit bigger. I talked to the Alfa guy a bit about the Giulia. It really is the tits although they didn't let anyone sit in either QV they had at the show  Got to check out the new 5 series. Have to say I didn't like the interior that much. A bit busy and the combinations of different materials didn't quite come together to a cohesive whole for me. The X2 concept looked good, even if the X2 is a totally unnecessary car. The two cars that enflamed the loins the most were the R8 Spider and Ford GT. I actually got to sit in the GT and lawd  that car is a religious experience. Super tight interior, carbon fiber everywhere, military grade switchgear, and stationary seats (the wheel and pedals move). I can say without a doubt I'd rather have the GT than a Aventador or 675LT anything else in that price range. ![]() The R8 was in that gorgeous Riviera Blue that some 911's are shipping with now. The Audi guy tending the car was saying Audi is doing paint to sample on the R8 now so pretty much any color you want you can get. I didn't get to really relax and check out everything I wanted this time because we had a flat tire in the morning that kinda disrupted our day. Overall it was fun as always but a lot of manufacturers weren't there. I'm hoping there'll be more heavy hitters at NY. Re: Automotive News Discussion - Ken - 01-10-2017 http://www.goaprplus.com/ Not sure if this is, "new" but this is pretty neat. I'll be looking at a car somewhat soon and a 320HP/TQ Golf R covered with a 5 year powertrain plus regular factory warranty sounds very tempting. Re: Automotive News Discussion - Jake - 01-10-2017 Wow, the steering wheel in the GT is pretty ugly. Bummer given the rest of the styling. (And yes, steering wheel/gauge cluster design is absolutely a dealbreaker for me) Re: Automotive News Discussion - SlimKlim - 01-10-2017 Ken Wrote:http://www.goaprplus.com/ I think a perf-pack GTI with the tune would be a better buy. You can get a sunroof and it still has a non-electronic e-brake which you need, for reasons. Re: Automotive News Discussion - davej - 01-10-2017 Ken Wrote:http://www.goaprplus.com/ so is it just a softer tune blessed off by the dealer/warranty? I thought a stage 1 golf r apr tune put out 380/390ish? Re: Automotive News Discussion - SlimKlim - 01-10-2017 davej Wrote:Ken Wrote:http://www.goaprplus.com/ Its a warranty provided by APR to replace the factory warranty, I guess they decided to soften up the tunes when they actually had to stand behind them. Makes me feel ok about not pushing 310hp through my car with the standard tune and a vague promise that the dealer might still cover some stuff if they feel like it. Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 01-10-2017 Jake Wrote:Wow, the steering wheel in the GT is pretty ugly. Bummer given the rest of the styling. You are now on my Ford GT persona non grata list But really, it's all business. Lots of exposed carbon fiber and aluminum, almost no other controls other than what's on the steering wheel. Instead of control stalks a lot of the functions are location on the aluminum knobs on either side of the wheel there. The cockpit is more racecar or airplane than it is supercar. I love it. Re: Automotive News Discussion - Ken - 01-10-2017 davej Wrote:Ken Wrote:http://www.goaprplus.com/ Looks that way and i'm totally okay with that to be honest. EDIT: Nevermind, it's only on FCA diesels. Re: Automotive News Discussion - D_Eclipse9916 - 01-12-2017 Quick go buy a diesel 1500 ram. Re: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 01-12-2017 Diesel gonna die eventually for most passenger cars. It's too much mess and risk for automakers. Electric is the way of the future Re: Automotive News Discussion - ScottyB - 01-13-2017 Chrysler's recalling all their stuff again? *yawn* Re: Automotive News Discussion - rherold9 - 01-17-2017 If this is true that's pretty cool. Hopefully it works out for them as no one else has been successfull before them. You are talking 30% more on gas? That's going to put them over 50mpg highway while making more power and less emissions on gas... not diesel. Not sure why they are going this route but I guess it's one way to get sales rolling. Hopefully they figure out how to keep reliability high with no plugs at 18:1... feel like there will be some issues in the cold Sent from my SM-T713 using Tapatalk Re: Automotive News Discussion - ScottyB - 01-17-2017 edit: haha just saw fiveoh2go's post in Appearance. soundly beaten, i do say! buy your '15-17 mustangs now in preparation for reselling them for a profit now that we've got the new "sloth" version on the way: ![]() anybody else see the resemblance immediately? you were on such a roll, Ford. do us a favor and beat the design team with the same ugly stick Re: Automotive News Discussion - Goodspeed - 01-17-2017 Besides being tragically ugly, why does it also look so...wide? "Son...is that you?" ![]() And, something I'm sure Matt can appreciate - they unveiled it in, for some reason, a reincarnation of the worst and most hated Mustang color in recent memory, Zinc yellow?
Re: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 01-17-2017 New Electric GT racing series. Will probably suck because electric cars but at least the Tesla looks cool. https://www.carthrottle.com/post/electr ... ing-beast/ ![]()
