Love how everyone keeps throwing that 50% number around, let's wait and see how the games actually look. Thought that here, more than anywhere else, would know not to judge a device (car) by the numbers on pages.
well, silicon is silicon, cant fight the facts. The GPU on the PS4 IS 50% faster, and it has significantly higher memory bandwidth as well. It wont be twice as fast (or twice as many fps) but there will be a difference.
All games at release are roughly the same, the dev cycle for these games started before the dev teams even got dev kits. Its as the consoles mature that the engines are refined and the differences come out.

True enough, I know the PS3 Cell was apparently a bitch compared to 360 but I never really noticed any huge difference in gameplay between the two. I guess my point is, it will never be THAT big of a difference as "50% faster" is making it sound.
I think that's because the PS3 was more difficult to program for. Sony's philosophy was to make something powerful and let the devs figure out how to unlock that power, rather than designing the system in such a way that it would be easy to utilize the graphical power. From all reports they've learned from that mistake with PS4.

You make a good point, if Nintendo made a gaming phone it could potentially make them a fuckton of money.

Problem is, what OS do you go with? Do you just make it a Nintendo DS OS with the ability to make calls? Do you create an app store? Or do you go with Android or Windows Phone and build off that?

I'm pretty sure Nintendo would be quite loathe to go with Android or Windows Phone, so they'd have to roll it themselves. Then I'd have to wonder how successful they'd be in the mobile market.

Sony actually tried the gaming phone (PSP Phone) idea but it didn't catch on. I think the problem was there weren't enough compelling games to drive sales.

If anything, Nintendo should port some of their back catalog to iOS and/or Android. Redevelop a few classics to make them play nice with touch controls. Something like Zelda or Pikmin could work pretty well. They could charge $10 to $15 for those games and easily make millions. I don't think Nintendo will ever do this of course, but it would be nice.

Anyone playing GTAV on 360? Once online is up and running I'm going to try and get a crew together.

I'm in if I ever get time to play it. I've had case study after case study ever since I bought the game. I'm thinking of destroying it so as to please the case study gods and maybe the case studies will go away

Yeah I haven't had any success getting online yet. I may try over the weekend, I've got work to do tonight.

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - JPolen01 - 10-03-2013

When you guys are ready shoot me a fb message and we can coordinate a time to play. My roommate will join as well. I need to find a headset...anyone got an extra for $free99?

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - SlimKlim - 10-08-2013

I've been playing GTA online for the past few nights and I really like it, first game that has actually convinced me to bend over and pay for an Xbox Live subscription. I'm level 8 or 9 right now I think. They really make you put in the grind to earn some cash but I think it gets easier as you level up.

Gamertag is SlimKlim. Don't have a headset, don't really want one. I don't need to listen to a bunch of 12 year old's tell me much I suck because I'm too busy making money and getting laid to log 10 hours a day into a game. I guess if enough people I know have the game and want to play in a closed session I could pick one up.

I should be online next week. Will look for y'all.

I got in the city and it kicked me out right when the first race was starting. Should I try again?

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - SlimKlim - 10-08-2013

Yeah, I've gotten kicked from a session a couple of times. They had a super rough launch, and it seems like they've resolved most of the bugginess, but it's still not perfect. I got frozen between the job loading screens last night and had to reboot the console.

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - JPolen01 - 10-08-2013

I'm going to try and give it another shot tonight. Last night I got sucked into a few missions that were pretty time consuming. I'll post my gamer tag when I get on. Gotta figure out what the numbers are on the end (roommates second account).

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 10-08-2013

Gamestop seemed pretty desperate to sell 360 games the last time I was in there. They were offering a promotion where if you bought certain brand new titles (COD: Ghosts, new Madden, etc.) for 360 you could bring it back when the XB1 comes out and "upgrade" your copy of the game for $10.00 to get the XB1 version. It's hard to sell me on buying games for a system that is about to become obsolete.

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - Evan - 10-08-2013

I think thats a universal promotion, for both consoles.

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - JPolen01 - 10-08-2013

JMUCREW. Request an invite bitches.

edit

Either Rockstar is still fucking up or I'm an idiot. I created the crew yet I still have to request an invite. My roommate requested an invite and I accepted it with no problem. When I request it, I get an error. I'm going to keep trying but I don't know what else to do.

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - SlimKlim - 10-09-2013

That's really weird. I had trouble logging in last night. It would time out then boot me to single player and make me go back into online mode. Then it timed out of a session loading screen once or twice, but those are all expected teething issues with an online launch IMO. What I'm really ansty for is them to launch the stock market in the online version. The /r/GTAmarket subreddit organizes large scale run-n-dumps on different stocks to get like 300% returns.

I'll search for that crew tonight and see if I can get an invite

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - G.Irish - 10-09-2013

I finally got online last night. Holy fucking shit this was easily the most fun I've had online in years! I was laughing until I cried with some of the ridiculous car chases, kills, and fuck ups. The randomly getting murdered by other players thing wasn't too bad. When there was a confrontation it usually turnd dout to be fun.

My favorite was a fast and furious style showdown where I ran a guy over with my muscle car and had done an ebrake turn to come back for another pass. The other guy had stood up and was staring me down from across the street. I started to smoke my tires as I prepared to smash him against a building, but then one shot rang out as he popped a cap in my dome. My head hit the steering wheel and landed on the horn. It was like Touretto saying, "Ride or die", then getting shot in the head.

In a chase I had, I had stolen a cop car and helped the police chase down another player with a high wanted level. He eventually tried to hide in the drainage canals, so I drove up and shot him from the embankment above. I went to go take his money but misjudged the incline and fell to my death.

GTA Online is insanely fun, even when I have a stupendous fail. It's gonna be hard for me to moderate my play time...

Shit, I want to get online. Guess I won't be studying for my test tomorrow this evening
