Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Evan - 12-22-2015 I dont think you know what a straw man argument is. Im just going to quote this so you cant go back and edit it when (if?) you realize how idiotic a statement it is JPolen01 Wrote:Same-sex marriage has been determined legal by the Supreme Court (federal govt) while gun laws are handled by the state. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - JPolen01 - 12-22-2015 Maybe I am confused and you can enlighten us all. Are gun laws not determined by each individual state? Does federal law make sex marriage legal or does it let the states determine legality? Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 12-22-2015 HAULN-SS Wrote:Indeed. If you have ever purchased a firearm from out of state you would be familiar with at least one (of many) of the federal laws governing firearms.JPolen01 Wrote:Maybe I am confused and you can enlighten us all. Does federal law make sex marriage legal or does it let the states determine legality?I think the distinction is that same-sex marriage has specifically reached the Supreme Court and a ruling was made that states cannot refuse marriage licenses to same-sex couples. I don't think there is a CCW reciprocity case that has reached the Supreme Court, so that's why for now it's a state issue. The SC has ruled that restrictions can be placed on firearm ownership, which is why each state can have somewhat different rules (to a degree). Official MM Firearms Thread - JPolen01 - 12-22-2015 Ok. I see where what I said was inaccurate. Obviously the federal government has has a say to some extent. But we wouldn't be having this conversation if they didn't leave the rest of it up to the states. If that was the case no one would be talking about the announcement out of VA today. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - CaptainHenreh - 12-22-2015 Whole thing is dumbass grandstanding by our AG-with-an-axe-to-grind at the behest of the guy who rented out the Lincoln bedroom. When he's gone, we'll offer reciprocity again, or maybe "Constitutional carry" that'd be dope. When I heard about this the first thing I thought: "What would Uncle Rex say about this." Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - JustinG - 12-26-2015 So had some DVOR credits.... ![]() Top installed.... ![]() What the....damn bottom won't go on.... ![]() Reading is fundamental.... SL won't work with triangular handguard rings.... So, back to my OG MOE furniture Or Notch the SL to accommodate the triangular ring Or Change out the handguard ring Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - CaptainHenreh - 12-28-2015 JustinG Wrote:So had some DVOR credits.... Step 0: Talk to Rexy before modification. Step 1: Don't go back to MOE, SL es muy bueno. Step 2: Swap the handguard ring, it's the right thing to do. Step 3: Be awesome. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - ScottyB - 12-31-2015 tell me what long gun safe i need to buy that will hold something around 10 guns or less and has room for pistols. non-stratospheric price preferred. trying to take advantage of new year's sales with my Santa Moneys and have no idea where to start. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - CaptainHenreh - 12-31-2015 ScottyB Wrote:tell me what long gun safe i need to buy that will hold something around 10 guns or less and has room for pistols. non-stratospheric price preferred. Costco? Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - BLINGMW - 12-31-2015 ScottyB Wrote:tell me what long gun safe i need to buy that will hold something around 10 guns or less and has room for pistols. non-stratospheric price preferred.Do you actually need a safe or would a gun cabinet suffice? If the goal is just keeping the kids out, a cabinet that size is ~$150. They just won't keep a burgler armed with your own power tools out for more than a few minutes. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Apoc - 12-31-2015 I have a tall Sentry safe with electronic lock. I don't think it's impenetrable, but it's 170 lbs so it's not gonna walk off unless Rex decides to front squat it out the door. It was maybe $500 and seems like decent value for the money. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 12-31-2015 A good deal on a for real gun safe would be about $600-650 for a 27-30 gun with a decent fire rating (like the one rex linked). Gun safe is one of those things where you won't be sad if you get one bigger than you need right now. It gives you room to grow into, store other valuables and ammo, etc. But if you just want a lock box to keep your pieces safe from the kiddos, like Chan said you can pick up a metal locker looking Sentry pretty much anywhere. For the bigger safes, actually keep your eyes on the local Ganders / Bass / Tractor Supply Co / Cabelas. They usually have good sales on one or two models and can help you find someone to deliver it. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - ScottyB - 12-31-2015 long gun safe is based on a "we're going to grow into it" attitude, although we'll start with pistols. its going to go in the back of a closet and lagged to the floor. seems like the going rate for an entry level Liberty safe is like $450. i guess i can manhandle something like that into my house with a hand truck? looks like the weigh like 400 lbs....i'll update with hernia stories. mostly want to see if there's any big deals out there or brands to totally avoid. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Apoc - 12-31-2015 I would also treat the listed number of guns the same way as tents. For the same reason you won't want to cram more than two people in a three person tent, you aren't gonna put much more than 6-8 guns in a 10 gun safe. Mine is a 10 gun and it's a bit short for my long trap gun, so it has to be stored breach open. I have three shotguns and a few cases of ammo in there; there's probably only room for two more long guns. I've got a 27 gun and half of it is filled with ammo and other things. As far as pistols though, there are tons of rack / storage options to make the most out of your space. So unless you have a huuuuuge collection of handguns you won't have to worry about running out of space. Long guns (especially with attachments / scopes), ammo and accessories are what eat up the cubic inches real quick. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Ryan T - 01-01-2016 If I've learned anything from owning two gun cabinets and now a Winchester 'safe' (RSC) get bigger than you think you will need. We bought a Winchester 24-gun from Tractor Supply for like $599 and it's nice but we have already outgrown it. If you are looking for a good price on a safe with a fair fire rating and to keep the kiddo's out, look at the Winchester safe at Tractor Supply. We are looking at a 72x40 from AMSEC or Fort Knox for our next safe, but that is in the 4-5k range. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - ScottyB - 01-01-2016 good call on the actual vs. realistic contents capability. figured that was probably the case. we're looking to get into a 9mm this year and will likely inherit some revolvers in the next couple years after that, which we'll definitely keep and want to fire often. i doubt we'd end up with anything more than 3 or 4 long guns depending on how much skeet we want to shoot and whether i catch the AR disease. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - ibjeepin95 - 01-01-2016 Just saw this thread. Since I have a picture of them, I'll show off my two favorite pistols I like to CC. Kahr CM9 and Taurus TCP .380. For both I use a Alien Gear holster, and I just ordered one of their gun belts to try. ![]() Sent from my SM-G900R7 using Tapatalk |
