10 right now. 9 after this weekend because I am giving one of my titanium Citizen ecodrives to one of the policemen who helps us work security at church. He has been proudly rocking a beat up Fossil that I don't think has a lot of life left in it. My wife has one of my old Seiko kinetics and a Michael Kors I bought her on our honeymoon. So 11 for the family Smile Really only two of them are worth anything somewhat signficant though.

My old boss on the other hand could buy a new 3 series with the value of his collection

Here's the Invicta carbon fiber diver on the black and grey NATO strap. Way more comfortable and matches the carbon fiber weave and brushed portions of the case.

Trying to get the all black NATO band onto my protrek but for some reason the japs put loctite on the opposing screws that hold the oem rubber straps on. It's been a fun adventure trying to get them off without ruining the threads on the screws.

Re: The WANT Thread - RawrImAMonster - 01-31-2014

I'm finding myself somewhat bored with my two current cars. Both of them are good in their own right but for whatever reason I just don't feel like modding/doing anything with them.

Having said that I've been eyeing the Evo X's a lot lately. I think they are enough of a step up in daily driving comfort from my Evo IX that I would be happy with one.

I'm definitely going to be selling the firebird and getting something else this summer. Haven't decided if I want to keep the M3 as a daily driver or just sell it and get something nicer/newer like an Evo X.

Edit: What is with all these watches? Just use your phone :bootyshake:

Interesting, I've been toying with the idea of letting mine go lol

Oh yeah, whys that?

Edit: Apparently Mitsubishi sent this out to their german dealers last night. If true, I wonder what this will do to prices.

Quote:For germany, the Mitsubishi Germany Dealers were informed that the last Production run of the Evo Series will be May 2014...
Last orders will be friday 31st this month.

In the letter its clear:
in German:
"Diese Ära geht nun zu Ende. Die finale Evolutionsstufe, der Lancer Evolution wird im Mai diesen Jahres zum letzten Mal produziert."

in English:
"This era ends now. The Final Evolution, the Lancer Evolution will be produced the last time in May of this year"

Money mostly, just need something better on gas and lower my monthly payments a bit. That and the same thing we all suffer for the most part, a little bit of car ADD.

Re: The WANT Thread - WRXtranceformed - 04-16-2014

My brother sent me this link today so I did some research on the company and the owner since it is pretty new. The guy who started it is pretty bright, he was a former exec for one of the Berkshire Hathaway companies.

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="https://www.elevenjames.com/index.php">https://www.elevenjames.com/index.php</a><!-- m -->

It's essentially a high end watch rental company. You pay a couple hundred a month and get your pick of watches to wear for 2 months at a time. The founder made an interesting point that a lot of wealthy people are becoming less interested in actually owning luxuries and more interested in timeshare / rentals of those things (jets, vacation houses, etc.). Here is the Forbes article with the founder:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.forbes.com/sites/marcbabej/2013/12/02/how-eleven-james-is-turning-luxury-watches-into-a-netjets-experience/">http://www.forbes.com/sites/marcbabej/2 ... xperience/</a><!-- m -->

I think it would make sense if you were in the market for a high end watch and wanted to try on and live with a couple before you made a big purchase. I don't know if I would personally rent watches constantly because I prefer to build my own collection (and I already have my dream wish list), but it seems they have concierges who help you buy & sell if you like.

Re: The WANT Thread - Mike - 04-16-2014

you had me rolling at "watch rental." couldn't finish reading from the floor.

i just can't take expensive watches seriously because they look no better than something you can get for $100 and they tell time no better than something you can get for $5.

one of few hobbies i cannot understand no matter how hard i try. i'm actually trying to think of others and can't.

and... i lied. i did get to the end. back on the floor at "concierges who help you buy stuff."

Re: The WANT Thread - SlimKlim - 04-16-2014

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Rich white people.........

Re: The WANT Thread - WRXtranceformed - 04-16-2014

Tough crowd here!

Regardless of whether or not you "get" the concept of high end watches there are lots of people that do and there certainly is a huge market for them. I don't "get" having a private jet or even being in a NetJet timeshare but people do it and companies make money off of it.

Re: The WANT Thread - SlimKlim - 04-16-2014

Owning a Jet or participating in a timeshare has a concrete benefit though. If you're sitting on that kind of cash one could assume you're an extremely successful businessperson, and being able to grab a car to the airport and be on the runway within an hour would definitely make it easier to get to all of your board meetings.

A high-end watch is just a piece of jewelry, doesn't tell time better than my smartphone or my $100 Skagen. Like the difference between a Swavorski and a Diamond, the only person that knows how much it costs is the person wearing it, unless you're in the habit of shoving your wrist in people's faces.

Anyone who "gets" stupidly expensive watches probably has enough money that the cost of one is a trivial sum, why spend less but have to send it back? It's just a hassle. The actual market I see for that are young, douchey morons who make $40k but want the clubrats they violate every weekend to think they make $400k.

Why have a sports car? It burns gas worse, it's loud, it's expensive, and it doesn't get you anywhere faster because of speeding limits. Personal enjoyment...

While I agree with you, I believe the counter would be:

Yes, but I can take my sports car to a race track and/or Autox and use it to its full capability AND still use it for normal functions. I can't take the watch to anything of that nature, it just tells time.

Again, I agree, you like what you like.

Re: The WANT Thread - *insertusernamehere* - 04-16-2014

This watch thing seems like a very "old" hobby/interest.
