Give me a call, and I'll show you the ropes. Smile

Finally took the PSL out and shot it this weekend! All I have to say is OMFG WIN. I love it! Its the most fun I have ever had shooting besides skeet and the Desert Eagle.

We set up at like 100 yards, shooting at a bucket and a bucket lid. I didn't know I was hitting anything, until we walked out after the first 10rnd mag was expended. 7 holes in the bucket...and I never even touched the scope. I shot at the bucket lit once and hit it...that's 8 and 9...well...I managed to hit the wire of the high tensile fence we were shooting though! It would have been badass if I would have been trying to hit it, instead it was just a pain in the ass. The last shot was never located. From that point on we had a ball! Anne set up on the bucket and it went 15ft in the air on the first shot, needless to say she was hooked and we spent the better part of an hour kicking this bucket around the field. The bucket was on a log when I was shooting at it so it didn't move around.

So with heavy wind and not touching the scope's adjustments sense it was last setup by a Romanian I could kill you dead at 100 yards. I can't wait to get it zeroed in and start taking some really long shots with it.

Im going to go on thursday night probably unless I decide to go out and party. But I really want to go one night. I also want to go shooting on saturday. ugh.

- Ryan T - 02-10-2009

I will probably go to that on Thursday as well.

I would be down for going to the range tomorrow (wednesday) provided it doesn't rain, looks like the weather will be nice. Anyone that wants to go I'll supply 7 firearms if you drive there. I'll be damned if I'm taking the vette on that shitty dirt road.

- Jeff - 02-10-2009

Wish I could get the free NRA membership! I really need to get a lifetime membership.

I'll go to the indoor with you tomorrow evening if you want. Anne and I were probably gonna go anyway, I'll be in town around 5:30 or 6 coming back from a class.

Really? Nice I had heard of things like that at VT and UVA... didn't know we had that here... would love to bring up my shotgun and rifle.. speaking of shotgun isn't there a skeet range around JMU somewhere?? Also, what is the process involved with the checking in/out thing..

- V1GiLaNtE - 02-11-2009

Also is it through the JMU police or Harrisonburg?

- Kaan - 02-11-2009

JMU PD, you just go to the dispatcher and ask for a check out. show your slip... police officer comes (sometimes you have to wait 15 minutes) and they check out your gun.

i'd call and make sure. its been a while since i was in school... and i'm not even sure where the new PD is anymore!

- Sijray21 - 02-18-2009

Alright quick question for you guys. I want to obtain my concealed weapons permit. Where can i take a certified class? I've been checking with the NRA HQ and they don't have their April class date set yet and according to the woman at the range it fills up in a few days. Are there other classes? Are there any other tasks i should take care of in the mean-time?

btw - i used those 25 y/o rounds on Monday at the range, they were still good

- JohnC - 02-18-2009

Consider traveling outside of NoVA for a class. I know that Rivanna Rifle and Pistol Club down here offers several NRA-approved courses that fulfill the requirement for a concealed carry permit.

As an aside, I'm taking a Patrol Rifle / Carbine course at RRPC in late March. It's put on by Defensive Training Concepts, Inc. Kudos to Jess for an awesome birthday present 8)

- Kaan - 02-18-2009

Jason... this is a co-worker of mine. He teaches the class.

i have my 12 ga here with the jmu pd. it's really simple. to check it in, it obviously has to be unloaded and then you just tell the person at the front desk what you want to do and then an officer will fill out a form with you and provide you with a slip. they then lock the gun in a cabinet and you're done. to check out, you simply show your copy of the slip to them and then you can come back later and return it. I'd love to go shooting soon. The last time i went, me and my friend wasted 175 rounds of 7 1/2 shot in a couple hours shooting anything and everything up at the rifle range. I may or may not be here this weekend. but if people want to go i'd be down and willing to drive.

^ Sounds awesome.. I'll have to bring up my 12 Gauge and 10/22 Plinker after spring break.. about how far away is the range?

- eurospeed951 - 02-19-2009

I will be at the range on 33 this sunday with my father and my fiancee. We're heading out there after going to that va sportsmans show at the fair grounds. I will most likely be bringing:
RRA AR-15
SKS
XD-9SC
Argentine Mauser
Savage model 99
50 cal. muzzleloader
Marlin .22 bolt action
Colt and Rosi .38 revolvers
S&W and H&R .22 revolvers
maybe a few shot guns

I will be more than happy to share anything I bring.

- eurospeed951 - 02-20-2009

Just picked up 200 rounds of .223 and 450 of 9mm. Ammo prices are starting to get kind of crazy though. Still need to grab some more 7.62x39. Should be a fun weekend.
