- Maengelito - 05-18-2007 runnin a bit late, its 8:20 and i'm off - white_2kgt - 05-18-2007 in case any checks this I'm parked over by the pumps, just move some shit and park whereever. - white_2kgt - 05-20-2007 Pictures, http://www.2kgt.com/item.php?itemid=167 Car ran good but I was leaking fuel on left handers. Pretty sure it's the filler neck/grommet, as a result I didn't get but a handful of laps in. The car ran strong, little loose b/c of the shitty street tires, to stiff of a front spring in the front and the weird ass, IRS thing in the rear. Hope to have all that cleared up by HypeRfest. Instructing is interesting. It was my students (just had 1) first time on track, like, ever. He had done about 3yrs of AutoX and it showed. He really looked ahead and was pretty darn quick, had a little issue with the front fender and his tire which caused him to miss his 3rd session on Saturday but dude's hardcore, he drove into town and got a new tire to replace it and went back out for his 4th session! I ended up soloing him after lunch on Sunday b/c I really had no more tips for him on Shenandoah and he seemed pretty level headed. I drilled the flags/corner stations/traffic management into his best I could, so I hope it stuck! CarNoreast is a great group to run with pretty relaxed schedule and a bunch of track time and not many cars on track. Paddock was MAYBE 1/2 full. Best line of the day, "Hey, it's quiet hour, what part of that don't you understand?" - James Packer as he runs over to some VW tuner's car w/ loud exhaust and revving it to redline during Lunch on Sunday! HA! - Sijray21 - 05-20-2007 white_2kgt Wrote:CarNoreast is a great group to run with pretty relaxed schedule and a bunch of track time and not many cars on track. Paddock was MAYBE 1/2 full. +1 Great club to track with - lots of track time, friendly atmosphere, good paddock space (not a lot of trailers), free food, tee shirt, and raffles for a relatively low price! I won one of the raffle drawings to drive the new MKV R32! It was the only one in north america since they don't go on sale until august. Very easy to drive, DSG worked beautifuly, good brakes, and very comfortable. I wish i could've taken off the traction control and 4wdrift that bitch! This was my first event at shenandoah and i've had 5 previous weekends (4 of them at Summit Main). I found out that i was in a group that were not issued instructors. At first i was a little hesitant to go out there on my own, but with a ride along from Evan and some tips from Maeng, Mike, and Andy i was able to get more of the track down as the day progressed Saturday and on Sunday. The crowns and camber on this track really affect how you approach the turn! i found that out the hardway in turn 2 (the hammer) and finagled my way through turn 7 before the bridge straight. The ass-pucker moment of the weekend was in big bend. I was moving pretty quickly all session so my tires were hot with grip and coming out of the corkscrew (T14) i tracked out of little bend to a small puddle that i hit. I then loaded the same side for big bend under full throttle and the rear gave out to leave me spinning sideways at (what i thought) was a high rate of speed. A lot of tire screeching later i found myself just off the asphalt after i went two-feet in. I learned to never hit that puddle again. I miss tracking my integra... ...how much was that bolt-in roll bar again? - Andy - 05-20-2007 Awesome seeing everyone there. It was absolutely brilliant weather. I take it back that God is a homo. He came through for the asians and gave us clear blue skies. My head was nowhere near my ass this weekend and I would even venture to say that I did a little bit of that thar driving. I tried to entertain the paddock with mad dorifto slides around the cut through but Maeng showed me up when he drifted with a grocery bag wrapped around his loaded tire. It was great hanging out in the paddock and shooting the shit with everyone again. See you bitches in June. Also, big thumbs up to Felton and the Nor East R32 club for putting on an absolutely awesome weekend. I'm definitely doing the other two events later this year. - Maengelito - 05-20-2007 great weekend! i love shenandoah. it was especially nice since the track was fairly clear. like everyone else has said, it was really just a good time with good weather, shootin the shit with everyone and it was relatively incident free. my beginner student was completely green, never been on track before. he was lost his first session but really picked up the line quickly. it was sorta hard to work with him because he had a jetta TDI that was autotragic. it was kinda cool though because he told me he was running 70% biodiesel. my intermediate student had a nice R32 and had been at VIR last year once. i was actually very impressed by the car. it didnt really feel terribly heavy, but that V6 had a lot of power coming out of turns. there were two sessions where i'd go out to follow chad and check his car for fuel leaks. that thing was spilling a ton out of the passenger side. he seemed to be frustrated by it the second time, so he decided to peg it in the bowl. i was treated to a nice light show by his exhaust rubbing the entire way through the bowl sending sparks everywhere. i'm surprised the spilled fuel didnt catch. as andy eluded to, i was coming out of the bowl and going through the corkscrew when i saw a white grocery bag floating across the track. at that point, it was too late to swerve around it. i went right through it and didnt see it fly in my rearview mirror, so i was a bit frustrated thinking it got caught in my front grill and was blocking air flow to the radiator. every turn after that is a left hander. after little bend and then big bend, i was little white bits of plastic flying in my rearview, so i was a bit concerned as to what it was caught on. turns out the first right hander (aka the cut through) showed me that it was completely wrapped around my left front tire. i showed off my mad dorifto and tanksrapper skills and continued on with ol' balls collins behind me. after that session, we were packin up and as mike was changing back to his street tires, he found lots of white plastic that i had shed on track. fuck, i wanna go back to shenandoah like now. - Apoc - 05-20-2007 Mike pegged me in the face with a cashew. That about sums up my Shenendoah experience. - .RJ - 05-20-2007 'cause you're a bitch! - ScottyB - 05-20-2007 awesome pics! i wanna drive the only mk5 R32 in the country congrats jayray!
- Andy - 05-21-2007 Apoc Wrote:Mike pegged me in the face with a cashew. Don't worry. We pegged his wheels with a good 4 dozens rocks.
- bimmerboodle - 05-21-2007 Hey guys, it was good to see you again. Too bad I couldn't hang around longer.... Chad, thanks for hooking my friend up with the hose. That fixed it... - Mike - 05-21-2007 Andy Wrote:Apoc Wrote:Mike pegged me in the face with a cashew. yeah wtf was that? i noticed rocks all over 'em when i picked them up. fuck you guys, those are my show wheels. - Andy - 05-21-2007 Mike Wrote:Andy Wrote:Apoc Wrote:Mike pegged me in the face with a cashew. We were REM'ing those wheels for you
- Evan - 05-21-2007 my weekend: Had only 1 student, in a scirocco. Very cool car, handles great for fwd. Feels like a fwd miata. Student was fantastic, it was impressive how quickly he picked up the track. He _really_ liked the momentum line. Its fun to see something click with a student. We were fuckin' shit up in the yellow group. HPDE championship. I noticed pretty early on saturday that my pedal would start going to the floor after about 1.5 laps of a session. I could pump it up and it would be firm, but still had a couple scary moments. I figured it must be the brake master, or maybe severe pad knockback. Ive never had knockback on a miata so I didnt think that was it. I parked the car, and then drove a dealer car - new GTI "Farenheit" edition on track. Holy ass that thing sucks balls on track. Bone stock, DSG trans, all season tires. I beat the everloving piss out of that car. Tires howling every corner. The car needs a lsd and some real tires BAD. It feels pretty slow in a straight line too. DSG was underwhelming. It still felt like a slushbox. Or maybe it was just the inside wheel spinning. A VW corporate guy had to ride with me, and Im pretty sure I scared the shit out of him a few times. I did take the miata out one more time, which was probably stupid, but I never claimed to be smart. Must have looked funny to anyone following me to see my brakelights flashing starting halfway down the straight. Saturday night I got home with the intention of trying to fix what was wrong with the car. After realizing the likelihood of just having to park the car again I decided to stay home. - Dave - 05-21-2007 hey Evan, some thoughts on your brake problem.. -Were you losing any fluid? If so, it would fit the symptoms for a loose line. -Have you replaced/rebuilt the master before? If so, it might be your booster. If not, you might as well, right? :-). - Maengelito - 05-21-2007 Evan Wrote:After realizing the likelihood of just having to park the car again I decided to stay home. yeah, jeff curtis was none too pleased about that - Mike - 05-21-2007 he went so far to say "the evan gays of the world" weeeee! - white_2kgt - 05-21-2007 Maengelito Wrote:Evan Wrote:After realizing the likelihood of just having to park the car again I decided to stay home. I've only talked to the guy a handful of times, but does anything please him? hock:

He's better than he used to be... but just not showing at the track sunday morning is pretty shitty. - Evan - 05-21-2007 Maengelito Wrote:student signed off. I had no commitment to be there.
