WTF!

- Hunter - 11-26-2007

I just saw this a few minutes ago. My best wishes go out to him and his family, and I hope he makes it out of this ok. It really puts a disappointing loss in perspective, and shows how meaningless it really is.

Here's a quick update from the Washington Post:
The Redskins Beat Writer Wrote:Sean is in critical condition in Florida after being shot in the leg. The injuries are very serious, and according to one team official "It's not good. We're waiting on more details from the hospital." There is some concern an artery may have been struck, though I have not been able to get the firmly confirmed.

UPDATE:
Just spoke with a friend of the family who said that Sean lost a substantial amount of blood and the bullet traveled near the femoral artery, which is located in the thigh. Sean's father, Pedro, the chief of police in Florida City, Florida, is with him at the hospital, according to the source. They believe the situation is stabalizing, and are obviously hoping for the best.

Players and coaches are very worried right now and essentially everyone can do nothing but pray for the best at this point. The media is being quarantined to the media room for now - as you would expect in these situations - and there will be no open locker room. Players may be speaking to us later in the day.

One of Taylor's agents, Jason Rosenhaus, said he had no comment on the incident. The Redskins are going to have a team meeting around noon to update the players on the situation.

According to the team, Taylor was home in South Florida when armed robbers attempted to enter. He was not with the team for the game this weekend - which is not unusual for injured players - as Sean was trying to recover from a knee sprain. The Redskins had hoped that Taylor, who was having a Pro Bowl season, would have returned to the lineup in the next few weeks.

UPDATE:
Also, just to clear up anyone drawing their own conclusions - this is a different house in a different part of South Florida than where Sean had the ATV incident two years ago and was arrested on a firearm s charge. He was in his old neighbrogood near his mom's house when that incident occured, he has moved to a nicer part of town since starting his family and, according to teammates, had stopped hanging around a lot of his former associates after his last legal problems.

However, a lot of people down there know who he is, are jeolous of his wealth, etc, and it's not like no one from his old neighborhood knows his new address.

I was about to post it up too. I hope he's okay. He's currently in a coma the last I heard after surgery from taking a bullet in his femoral artery.

There hasn't really been much good news so far. This just came out a few minutes ago.

Washington Post Wrote:Sean Taylor "Clinging To Life"

Richard Sparpstein, who has represented Sean Taylor in legal matters in the past and is a friend of the family, said moments ago that the player's life is hanging in the balance in the hospital. Sharpstein, speaking from the hospital, said Taylor is "nonresponsive and unconscious" and the doctors are "worried about a possible brain injury or death."

Sharpstein, who has been with Taylor's family at the hospital much of the day, said that there are major worries that Taylor may have lost oxygen to the brain, and that no other procedures are planned for right now. "They're waiting to see if he comes to," Sharpstein said. He was shot in the groin/thigh area near the femoral artery and lost copious amounts of blood. He was airlifted to the trauma center and endured several hours of surgery, Sharpstein said.

Taylor is in intensive care, Sharpstein said, and his girlfriend and child were not injured in the attack. Sharpstein said Taylor was sleeping when he heard a noise in the living room. The intruders were at his bedroom and Taylor reached for a machete or other form of knife he keeps nearby in case of emergency, and two shots were fired, with one striking his leg.

"Right now he's clinging to life and we're all praying he makes it," Sharpstein said.

My dad the cardiac nurse Wrote:His blood pressure likely dropped because of bleeding and he progressed into cardiogenic shock. The heart basically had no blood to pump to all the vital organs that need huge amounts of oxygen. First aid needed would be; stopping the bleed, oxygen administration, fluid support (IV), and get him to the hospital STAT.

News that he is now responsive and has been able to squeeze a nurses hand. Which is great news after I read that he had flatlined twice during his surgery on profootballtalk.com

Holy shit that would be total miracle if he pulled out of that...

- ziich - 11-27-2007

Sad RIP Sean Taylor

- Evan - 11-27-2007

such a tragedy

- WRXtranceformed - 11-27-2007

Oh my God Sad

- John - 11-27-2007

Terrible news - I'll miss seeing him play. Sad

- Hunter - 11-27-2007

It's a terrible terrible tragedy. He was not just a great player but a father of an 18 month old girl, it's terrible that she'll never know her dad.

I just keep thinking of a wedding I went to in January two years ago that was on the same day as the Bucs playoff game. It's funny that the moment that seemed to bring everyone at that wedding party together had nothing to do with the wedding. Everyone at the reception (including the bride and groom) were crowded around a little radio to listen to skins game. When Sean Taylor picked up a fumble and ran it back the place just errupted It brought everyone together and actually set the tone for the rest of the evening, definitely the most fun wedding I've ever been to.

- ScottyB - 11-27-2007

i feel so bad for his family and little girl....i hope they find the guys that killed him

- ziich - 11-28-2007

I used to see him around all the time at his place in Ashburn. I had a friend that lived nearby. He was a nice guy, he'd wave to the kids when riding around on his ATVs. Also had 2 baller 740i's

I figured that I'd always have a chance to ask him for his autograph, but I guess I shouldn't have passed up that opportunity.

- Kaan - 11-28-2007

RIP Mr. Taylor

- WRXtranceformed - 12-01-2007

Looks like they finally caught the guys who they think did it. Good, I hope they get the max:

- Hunter - 12-02-2007

The skins played their first defensive play with only 10 men on the field. It was touching, except for the fact that they then gave up a 20 yard run.

- stevegula - 12-02-2007

hahahaha Gibbs is so fucking fired. And if he isn't fired after this season, I'll hate Dan Snyder even more, if possible.
