- HAULN-SS - 02-16-2007 maybe your sending unit went out? Does it "feel" cold, or is it just reading cold? - Mike - 02-16-2007 the gauge does fluctuate, so i don't think the sending unit went out. the heat doesn't get too hot so i'm thinking the entire engine just isn't running very hot. - Andy - 02-16-2007 You can fix it pretty quickly. The hardest part is bleeding out the air in the coolant. It might be a good idea to fix it so the car won't enrichen the mixture to compensate for what it thinks is colder air. Also, if it's cold next weekend, driving down without heat is going to suck balls. - Maengelito - 02-16-2007 Andy Wrote:Mike Wrote:yes. if i turn the heat on full blast, the gauge reads just about as cold as when i start the car. with the heat oiff, it doesn't reach where it should. +1 that happened to my integra a few years back. its pretty easy to replace assumign you have a couple of swivel sockets and extensions. my car would never quite reach its regular operating temp and it would get really cold when i started moving. i replaced the t-stat and it worked normally after that - Kaan - 02-16-2007 Andy Wrote:You can fix it pretty quickly. - Maengelito - 02-16-2007 word, your car probably has a bleeder nipple on the block. if not, just run it with the cap open for a bit - Mike - 02-16-2007 Maengelito Wrote:word, your car probably has a bleeder nipple on the block. if not, just run it with the cap open for a bit sweet, only $13 total. anybody advise against one from advance? i'm afraid i don't have time to wait for one at the dealer. http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDeta ... 33&ptset=A http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDeta ... 43&ptset=A - Kaan - 02-16-2007 nope i got mine at advance... never had an issue with it in years... i pulled it out of the old block for a back up on the new motor. - Mike - 02-16-2007 excellent... done... looks like about an hour job assuming i can get that f'ing rear hose back on easily. - Kaan - 02-16-2007 i know you have a B motor and all... but i think its 2 10mm bolts and that hose... ********** make sure you get a new gasket if yours uses one... i'm sure it does... and make sure you line up the little notch in the gasket with the notch on the Tstat. - Mike - 02-16-2007 yeah, might even be a 30 minute job, but i like to take my time ![]() i'll be getting the gasket, and i do have a helms pdf handy... the "pin" goes up. - Kaan - 02-16-2007 i did it right by accident.... then i got the "well did you put the pin up and make sure the gasket was lined up right... blah blah blah" - Andy - 02-16-2007 Get the heavy duty version. Those things are way too cheap and important to skimp on. Kaan-B/D series are easy to bleed. Bleeding an H-Series was harder and took longer than any other car I've every had. - Mike - 02-19-2007 feck! car is at curry's for alignment and tire mounting... guy calls and says my rear trailing arm bushings are shot... 1 is broken, the other cracked. i odn't know shit about bushings, but i'm guessing i shouldn't track it like that? don't think i have time to get new bushings, tear trailing arms off, get new ones pressed in, reassemble... shit, i don't think i can even pull the s2k out of the garage yet.... i might be staying home this weekend ![]() don't even say "track the s2k." rj says to go anyway... thoughts? - Apoc - 02-19-2007 track the s2k. you could do it if you "worked from home" this week. let me know if you're bailing, i'll need to find another way home. - Mike - 02-19-2007 Apoc Wrote:track the s2k. 2nd person already... i can't, no bar ![]() i'll be deciding later today... sorry due
- Apoc - 02-19-2007 If it matters, one of our guys will have a lift (double-decker trailer) at the track. I guess that wouldn't help for instructor school on Friday but you could still run the weekend. - Mike - 02-19-2007 looks like a guy on rr-ax can get me the bushings today and has a tool that doesn't even require taking off the trailing arm to put the new bushing in (just unbolt and replace). BLING! picking up tomorrow in annapolis
- Maengelito - 02-19-2007 the integra had cracked trailing arm bushings. that happens to all hondas i believe. i say go out on track. its not like the control arm is gonna snap in half. there's still rubber in there. do it when you get home from the track - Mike - 02-19-2007 tires mounted, alignment not done (duh). tonight: replace thermostat tuesday: mount harness, figure out a better spot for camera mount wednesday: replace bushings thursday morning: pack sweeeeetness. |
