- JohnC - 01-25-2005 Chris Wrote:As of now with 9 workers we have 3 rooms available. Laura would like to know if all of the following people are interested in the flagging course bc it would make a lot of people happy who are on the wait list for a regular worker spot. I know Jess really would just like to stay on grid if possible. If that is a problem, let her know and she can decide if she wants to do something else or not. Also - we've got a room at the Sleep Inn for ourselves, separate from the worker rooms. - JohnC - 01-25-2005 And on another note, just ordered some brake pads from Matt at Carbotech... He recommended Panther Plus, so I went ahead with it. Should be a nice improvement over stock. Can't wait to try 'em out

Can't wait to try 'em out for track pads? you're going to need more than P+ on track in that sled... - Mike - 01-25-2005 mongooze Wrote:And on another note, just ordered some brake pads from Matt at Carbotech... Can't wait to try 'em out ick, that isn't much of a pad for a car the size of yours. edit: but he is the pro, might as well give it a shot. - JohnC - 01-25-2005 MichaelJComputer Wrote:ick, that isn't much of a pad for a car the size of yours. Yeah, I kinda wondered - but figured I would defer to the expert... We'll see. - .RJ - 01-25-2005 Did you tell him it was for track use? I'd call him back and change the order to XP9's or XP10's. - Kaan - 01-25-2005 i agree with RJ, at least XP9s... hell thats what they told me to run on the CRX... its weird that they would put the heavier car with MORE HP on the lower grade pad! - Mike - 01-25-2005 10s for that pig! seriously, assuming you don't drive like a douche you're gonna be carry a lot of weight really fast, i'm not sure 9s would be up to the task. hrug:
- Dave - 01-25-2005 give the P+ a shot and just leave them on. By next event, you'll be upgrading to better. When I first started running the Supra, I was using Hawk HP+ and drove around on them all the time, last two events I bumped up to Hawk Blues just to see how much of a difference they made (dramatic). As for the 240, I got a set of Ultimates based on others' recommendations. Should be coming in next week. Haven't decided if I should do a session in shitty pads and swap over for the rest of the sessions or if I should just run Ultimates the whole time. - JohnC - 01-25-2005 After some more searching, it seems like every Z32 owner who calls Carbotech comes away with P+ pads. Many of those folks do HPDEs and have no complaints (although of course all the serious track whores in the Z32 community have big brake kits). I'll give the P+ a shot. - Evan - 01-25-2005 Dave Wrote:When I first started running the Supra, I was using Hawk HP+ and drove around on them all the time, last two events I bumped up to Hawk Blues just to see how much of a difference they made (dramatic).P+ are a higher temp pad then Hawk blues, let alone HP+. John will be fine with P+, just make sure to bed them in properly. Carbotech pads can be sensitive to bedding - BLINGMW - 01-25-2005 Evan Wrote:P+ are a higher temp pad then Hawk blues, let alone HP+. huh, didn't know that. Sure enough, their HORRIBLE (like it needs to be said again) website backs it up, 1250F!! hock: Blues are only good 'till 1000.
- white_2kgt - 01-25-2005 8's would be enough. 9's or 10's would be overkill for street tires. I ran the 10's one weekend w/o the RA1's and it sucked. --chad - Maengelito - 01-25-2005 Evan Wrote:just make sure to bed them in properly. Carbotech pads can be sensitive to bedding yes, you're right evan - Evan - 01-25-2005 Maeng, Im glad that you finally agree with me that a light track session in the morning is perfect for bedding them in. After all, pretty much every club racer does that. - getfast - 01-25-2005 I can vouch for the Ultimates, I tracked them 3 times on the Miata and never faded 'em. Furthermore I have ~6 track days on the set on the E30 and haven't yet had a problem (w/ducting, no heat shields, recently new mcyl/f calipers, and frequent bleeds with Ate Super Blue.) Then again, I don't brake like a roadracer, I brake like someone who's planning to drive the car 140 miles home. PS- If anyone cares, I'll be at VIR all three days... instructing, trying to burn these old Kumho MX's off the E30, and hopefully not breaking anything  Jon - .RJ - 01-25-2005 How many times you going to spin? - getfast - 01-25-2005 .RJ Wrote:How many times you going to spin? That depends, what is the weather forecast? Hell, the car is d0rift0-sideways now in the dry, I can't even imagine, it'd be damn near un-drive-able in the wet... How many times are j00 gonna spin... in front of me? Jon - Andy - 01-26-2005 I'll take the flagging course. |
