I will indeed. It takes courage to support a small but growing political movement, especially when you traditionally lean pretty far to the right as I do. Because of how much our society and world has changed, we need more options now for candidates of different political ideologies. Gary Johnson had less than 1% of the popular vote in 2012 and this time around tripled that to 3%. It's important to look toward the long term and not just the next four years; if an Independent candidate can be legitimized at 5%, and they are allowed to take place in the major debates and get press attention, people will finally start to vote how they feel they really want to vote and not feel like they are throwing it away. If that happens, for a good candidate those independent percentages should grow dramatically. The hope is, a President who doesn't lean too far to one side will be able to better work with the Senate and Congress majorities. All of that takes time and takes people stepping up and making the change happen that they want (instead of just talking about it)

+1

Didn't support him as he is a little air headed but I feel like there needs to be more than a two party vote system so people can be forced to actually research the candidate instead of just voting party lines like most general America. For example richmond mayor and any other positions besides congress is labeled as independent on the ballot. Made me actually look at the candidates still running before I voted...

Do you think that's an organic increase or just a kneejerk reaction to having to choose between a dog turd rolled in cheeto dust and a career "establishment" politician that nobody trusts?

I hope you're right because 4 years with a bigoted, sexist, fear-mongering, xenophobic pathological liar is a hell of a fucking price to pay.

I'll be sleeping just fine. MD did its job even without my vote for Hillary.

Can I, just for a moment, make an observation?

last VA governor's race, we had two candidates:
Terry Mcaulliffe,
who is a liberal dickhead

and Ken Cucinelli
who is a rabid catholic who hates gays and abortions and blowjobs

Donald Trump donated a big wad of cash to one of them.

guess which.

Re: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - SlimKlim - 11-09-2016

Your point?

Re: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - CaptainHenreh - 11-09-2016

SlimKlim Wrote:Your point?

We have two possibilities:

One, Trump has always been rabidly anti gay/woman/mexican/w/e and has just been hiding it and contributing giant sacks of cash to people who aren't against those things until it "was time"

OR

He's played "America's Next Top President" better than anyone ever in history and is saying anything he thought would get him the votes.

I must remind everyone: 8 years later, Guantanamo is still open.

Re: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - SlimKlim - 11-09-2016

None of that changes my opinion of him.

Re: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - Jake - 11-09-2016

Regardless of Trump's real social views, we have to deal with Mike Pence as well, who I firmly believe has not been pandering this whole time and is actually just stuck in his own (horrific) alternate reality.

It could be all of the above, but the end result is what matters. I think it actually took a knee jerk reaction and two awful candidates to get a lot of people to wake up and realize that there could be something better for us in the future.

Also true, but how much impact has Uncle Joe had on...anything?

On the bright side, I suppose ammo and gun prices should mostly stabilize !

my bed is super comfy, although my 3rd party choice wasn't him.

don't try to sell me a bag of AIDS as an alternative to a big, hot bowl of Polio and then act surprised when i don't want either. the DNC had their chance, but they railroaded their honest, trustworthy option right out the back door with a kick in the ass so their superdelegates could fight for the tablescraps that House Clinton would throw in the dirt.

i think we're all really, really hoping this, if at least just to numb the pain. as you guys have already said:

it may be that this was all part of the act to just get there. his acceptance speech wasn't......awful? maybe there's hope...and you can bet your ass if the GOP screws up this term with their massive majority, there's gonna big some major changes in 2020.
