Re: 2011 Ford F-150 FX4 - *insertusernamehere* - 03-10-2017 So if everyone says don't flush why do the dealer's/manufacturers even bother recommending it in the first place? This shits confusing. Some people stand by drain, drain and then flush each at 30-40k intervals. Then some people say never flush. Period. Maybe it just depends on previous maintenance? I'm getting a manual back automatics are dumb. I'm just gonna drain - fill and put a new filter in the 940, but I have been curious if I should let a shop flush it. It has had flushes in the past, I have receipts for it and the volbros say to flush it buuuuttt yeaaaahhh....Not if everyone else says don't. I almost don't care if the enthusiasts say to do so because its an Aisin Warner trans. Maybe I'll google it in terms of that instead of the car. Re: 2011 Ford F-150 FX4 - Senor_Taylor - 03-10-2017 I don't even think my Tacoma has a filter. At least I didn't replace one when I pulled my pan. Just drain, pull pan, clean magnets, replace pan, cross thread half the bolts, pay a shop to fix it and be told I need a new pan, get truck back and find the magnets in the old pan, complain to the shop and be told the magnets weren't important, stick welding magnet on outside of pan until I have time to fix it, pull pan again and put the magnets back in. Simple as that. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk Re: 2011 Ford F-150 FX4 - Sully - 03-10-2017 It probably does. Trans filters are usually fairly flat. You may have looked right at it and not known it. Should have been one of the first things you've seen after removing the pan. Re: 2011 Ford F-150 FX4 - Jake - 03-13-2017 Got the big girl all washed and filled up in preparation for OMGsnow tonight. She looks good all shined up.
Re: 2011 Ford F-150 FX4 - Jake - 06-16-2017 Mileage: 65,500 I've worn through the front Hawk LTS pads in 5,500 miles. No idea how. The rear LTS (installed the same day at the same mileage of 60k) have a ton of life left. Been chatting with Kevin at Hawk and hoping he will have a reasonable answer for me as to what to do next. I need pads ASAP but am not going to pay for another set of Hawks if this is how long they'll last. The OE pads made it 60k miles! Re: 2011 Ford F-150 FX4 - *insertusernamehere* - 06-16-2017 Oh wow yeah that's a problem! Do you think a caliper might be stuck? Re: 2011 Ford F-150 FX4 - Jake - 06-16-2017 *insertusernamehere* Wrote:Oh wow yeah that's a problem! Do you think a caliper might be stuck? I highly doubt it, given both fronts look the same. Re: 2011 Ford F-150 FX4 - navin - 06-16-2017 oh wow, I better check how mine are wearing down as well now too. Re: 2011 Ford F-150 FX4 - Jake - 06-16-2017 navin Wrote:oh wow, I better check how mine are wearing down as well now too. Mine started squealing under light application. Truck still stops fine but I'm avoiding driving it with no real front pad to speak of until I get new stuff from Hawk or just get whatever is cheap on RockAuto. Re: 2011 Ford F-150 FX4 - JustinG - 06-16-2017 Do you need to adjust your brake controller? Maybe the trailer isn't applying enough brake, making the truck's brakes work harder? Re: 2011 Ford F-150 FX4 - Jake - 06-16-2017 JustinG Wrote:Do you need to adjust your brake controller? Maybe the trailer isn't applying enough brake, making the truck's brakes work harder? The TBC is set up per Ford's instructions. I actually had to back it down a hair as the trailer shop said I had the trailer set too aggressively. That being said, I put these pads on in early November, so the truck has seen very little trailer time thus far. Four weekends and a few trips around town, and all the highway towing obviously doesn't use much brake application 90% of the time. Re: 2011 Ford F-150 FX4 - JustinG - 06-16-2017 Yeah weird, hopefully Hawk says they had a bad run of pads. Re: 2011 Ford F-150 FX4 - *insertusernamehere* - 06-16-2017 I mean our pads are cheaper but it happens here too. I wonder if they factory they all get made in is just super inconsistent. We'll sell the same grade of pad to two people and one will come back in a month with nothing left and the other won't be back for another year at least. Re: 2011 Ford F-150 FX4 - Scott - 06-17-2017 Jake Wrote:Mileage: 65,500 What?! That's crazy. I was getting ready to pull the trigger on the LTS for the Tundra, but I may watch and see how this plays out. I put a set on my old Ram and although they were noisy and dusty, it stopped great and the pads barely had any wear when I sold it. Re: 2011 Ford F-150 FX4 - Scott - 07-30-2017 Any update from Hawk? The Tundra needs brakes Re: 2011 Ford F-150 FX4 - navin - 07-30-2017 fwiw Scott, I wanna see I swapped my front pads to LTS on my Tundra around the same time Jake did his. His post had me a bit worried, so I checked them when I had the truck on a lift and they seem to be wearing fine. Plenty of life left and Jake and I have done the same mileage towing almost. Maybe he just got a bad batch. But dang the LTS is pretty harsh on rotors... I feel like mine have a slight warp to them already. Re: 2011 Ford F-150 FX4 - Jake - 07-31-2017 I was trying to look at the pad life without taking the wheels off, because I am a lazy fucker. Finally took them off and looked, and they have plenty of life left. The way the front calipers are shaped doesn't allow for an easy visual inspection, unlike on the E36/E46. I do have kind of a soft pedal (probably needs fluid) and the pads are squealy at times. So, that contributed to my (wrong) thoughts. I don't have any warp-y feeling and I did do new rotors when I put the LTS on. Soft-ish pedal is the biggest complaint, but it's still nowhere near a GMT800 GM pedal with fresh fluid and pads. That redefines squishy. Re: 2011 Ford F-150 FX4 - JPolen01 - 07-31-2017 Wait, so you wore through the pads or you they are fine and you just thought they were worn through? I am confused. They're fine and I'm a dingus. The squealy noises and soft pedal made me worry. I'm good at worrying. |
