Toyota and their various sports car concepts that **could be** the next Supra = GOAT automotive cock tease

Lulz at how they've been doing this for years and people are still falling for it.

You mean the FR-S isn't the automotive god-send that shook, rocked, and redefined the automotive industry forever?

Re: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 02-10-2014

An entry level, sub $20k 1.5L hybrid definitely sounds a lot like a Supra to me

Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 02-11-2014

I think Toyota would really need to tidy up that concept before putting it on sale. There are a lot of incongruent lines on that car that make it look like they mashed several different cars together.

As far as Toyota's sports car approach, apparently they want to have multiple sports cars on the market in the next few years. There's the joint venture with BMW which may be the basis of the next Supra (or something more upmarket) and a sub FR-S sports car which I imagine would end up being a Scion again. Maybe even something like a MR2. I must admit though that I'm skeptical that Toyota will be able to make anything worthwhile for much cheaper than the FR-S.

Jaguar XFR-S Sport Brake. Will debut in Geneva next month. Jaguar claims 0-60 in 4.6 seconds.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - Senor_Taylor - 02-25-2014

What's the difference between a shooting brake and a wagon, again?

Re: Automotive News Discussion - *insertusernamehere* - 02-25-2014

Lol i had google "Shooting brake". First time hearing of it, but from the looks of it shooting brake = 2 door

Last time I was in the dealership shop, there was an XFR-S in there that looked brand new. I asked the tech why it was in already and he said the engine had thrown a rod.....at 500 miles. Apparently that wasn't the first one either Confusedhock:

Re: Automotive News Discussion - Senor_Taylor - 02-26-2014

What a nightmare.

I've always found it funny how people harp on breaking an engine in, yet dealerships let people romp on them during the test drives.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - SlimKlim - 02-26-2014

Lots of new cars are now saying they don't require a break in period at all, which I have a extremely hard time believing.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - SlimKlim - 02-26-2014

Could this goddamn thing come out already? Please?

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=q8QINLUJpYI">http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... 8QINLUJpYI</a><!-- m -->

Allegedly production of them has officially started in the Mexico facility, and the dealers are knocking like $5500 off of the last of the MKVIs to get rid of them, but they still won't give us an official timeline or pricing sheet for them. Just gimmie already!

Re: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 02-26-2014

I was always under the assumption that an engine requires a break in period...especially high performance engines. Subaru always told me to follow a specific break in process on new cars....and Andrewtech gave me a REALLY specific break in process for the 2.8L motor they installed for me.

I don't know if there is a process for Jags but if i had bought mine new I probably would have followed the usual (no high revs, rocking throttle back and forth on the highway to seat the rings, etc.)
