Re: My Dumb 99' XJ Low Rider - Jake - 05-06-2015 I'm with DJ, always had a soft spot for those F150's. Looks good! Re: My Dumb 99' XJ Low Rider - ibjeepin95 - 05-06-2015 This is an F250. Powerstroke! Same body style, regardless lol Re: My Dumb 99' XJ Low Rider - Senor_Taylor - 05-06-2015 Is it SAS in the front? You already know how I feel about this. Re: My Dumb 99' XJ Low Rider - Senor_Taylor - 05-06-2015 Forgot it was 2wd. Let me revise: Would a 4x4 F250 this year be SAS? I know the next gen would be. Are you asking if it's solid axle? SA? Or Spring over axle? SOA? I can't tell cause you're using a toyota fanboi term for Solid Axle Swap SAS since you have IFS... Generally speaking almost every domestic 1/4 & 3/4 & 1 ton pickup trucks are solid axle (SA) during this era if they are 4wd. The only exception to that rule may be the Chevy/GMC 1500 series which I believe was IFS. Can't remember. Re: My Dumb 99' XJ Low Rider - Senor_Taylor - 05-07-2015 I've always heard SAS to mean Solid Axle Suspension, but yeah, that was my question. Thanks. Re: My Dumb 99' XJ Low Rider - ibjeepin95 - 10-02-2015 Been awhile since I've update, but I've wheeled this shit pile some lately. Last time out, I twisted a leaf pack into a prretzel, blew a rear u joint, and spun an 8.8 axle tube. Pretty sure axle wrap is to blame, so new leaf springs and a traction bar is the plan. Unless I get a deal on coilovers, and I link the rear. ![]() ![]() ![]()
Re: My Dumb 99' XJ Low Rider - Senor_Taylor - 10-02-2015 Build. Wheel. Break. Repeat. Re: My Dumb 99' XJ Low Rider - V1GiLaNtE - 10-02-2015 ibjeepin95 Wrote:and spun an 8.8 axle tube. Jesus dude. It may be a good thing XJ's only have so much power or this thing would be beat to shit even more. What IS your setup these days? Re: My Dumb 99' XJ Low Rider - ibjeepin95 - 10-02-2015 Well, the tubes were never welded to the center section, which is my fuck up, especially since I've had it out again since I originally put the 8.8 in and had a great opportunity to weld them. My setup is everything it was before, still 3 link front, 44/8.8, front is pimped out with chromos, Reid knuckles, crossover steering, locked, rear is stock and just locked. 4.88 gears. Really want to try to spin the 8.8 back and save it. I ain't made of money, and ballin' ain't free. Re: My Dumb 99' XJ Low Rider - ibjeepin95 - 10-02-2015 BUT if the 8.8 is toast (which I doubt it is), I'd probably go 9 or 60. Doubt I'd do another 8.8. They are super strong, more so than a rear 44, but I like full float in the 60 and aftermarket for the 9. Re: My Dumb 99' XJ Low Rider - ibjeepin95 - 10-02-2015 V1GiLaNtE Wrote:Yeah, truss could help, but I don't see the point for my wheeling. Welding the tubes to the center section should do it.ibjeepin95 Wrote:Well, the tubes were never welded to the center section, which is my fuck up, especially since I've had it out again since I originally put the 8.8 in and had a great opportunity to weld them. That would require you to join Nova Jeepers.. and I know just how much you love those guys.. Might as well go full float.. No 14 bolt? I have nothing against a 14 bolt other than the stupid huge center section. On 35's, ground clearance in critical. However, 14 bolts are super cheap. |
