Random automotive PSA - fiveoh2go - 11-04-2009

There's a red ZR1 lurking around the 'Burg. That is all.

Re: Random automotive PSA - SlimKlim - 11-04-2009

I want it.

Me too. The Independent Dealer tags were a dead giveaway. :mrgreen:

Re: Random automotive PSA - WRXtranceformed - 11-05-2009

I've seen a greyish one in Ballantyne that was gorgeoussss. I've seen a bunch of Lambos, twin turbo Lambos and Vipers (Underground Racing's shop is here) and some other really nice cars, but that one was the biggest head turner! Daddy wantsss

Re: Random automotive PSA - JustinG - 11-05-2009

the wheels just kill that car for me.....i dunno, never been a big fan of chrome. But...... :bow:

Re: Random automotive PSA - Ryan T - 11-05-2009

Guess he finally gave up looking for a yellow one. He turned down a blue one and another one in the past (maybe the red one he has now) since he was holding out for a yellow.

Re: Random automotive PSA - Dave - 11-05-2009

I saw the picture and to me it's nothing special. I'm lazy/busy, so could somebody please educate me on why this should make it move.

Re: Random automotive PSA - JustinG - 11-05-2009

Quoted from wikipedia:

Eaton-supercharged 6.2-liter engine producing a confirmed 638 hp (476 kW) and 604 foot-pounds force (819 N┬Àm) of torque with a sticker price of about US $100,000. The engine is the most powerful engine to be put into a GM production sports car.[25] Top speed is 205 mph (330 km/h)[26][27]. Along with an improved motor, the ZR1 also comes with extensive carbon-fiber body parts, including (but not limited to) wider fenders, the hood, roof panel, roof bow, front fascia splitter and rocker moldings. However, the car is heavier and more front weight biased than the Z06 because of the supercharger, with a weight distribution of 52% at the front and 48% at the rear. Tires were also increased in diameter and width, along with bigger and stronger carbon ceramic brakes, adjustable suspension

Motortrend:

The fenders, hood inner and outer panels, roof panel, and C-pillar roof bar are carbon fiber.....
* 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds
* 0-100 mph in 7.0 seconds
* Quarter-mile elapsed time of 11.3 seconds at 131 mph
* 205 mph top speed

100k for a vette seems like alot, but when you looks at its competitors, R8, 599, LP640, seems like a bargain.

Re: Random automotive PSA - Madden - 11-06-2009

i saw it last week, it was a red one and it was awesome!

Re: Random automotive PSA - Ken - 11-09-2009

Wasn't there also an article in Motor Trend on how they felt that the Z06 was still the better overall track car?

They beleive club racers will embrace the zo6 more because its better balanced, a hell of a ton probably easier to work on, and is lighter and cheaper than a zr1. Notice the word cheaper.

Re: Random automotive PSA - JustinG - 11-09-2009

you can probably get all the CF bits, better brakes, and supercharge the thing for less than 70k as well.

Re: Random automotive PSA - Steve85 - 11-09-2009

Yeah, I think even the new Grand Sport would have finished higher in the comparo. It has the Z06 brakes, tires, dry sump, a few other bits, and smaller LS3 engine. It won't be as fast as the Z06 or ZR1 but more manageable, and cheaper, for a weekend warrior.

Re: Random automotive PSA - WRXtranceformed - 11-09-2009

Give me a Z06 with h/c/i, DRs and a 100 shot if I'm on a budget.

Give me a stock ZR1 if I'm not Tongue

Re: Random automotive PSA - Ryan T - 11-09-2009

I talked to Kyle (owner of the ZR1 for those that don't know) yesterday and he is very pleased with it. Couldn't find a deal on a yellow one, so red it is. He just sold his 06 Z06 with h/c/i/e and full hodgkins suspension to buy the ZR1. The Z06 put down 535whp after a tune. He said the ZR1 feels like it has about the same power put over a much wider/more usable torque curve.

Yeah, but the cam/exhaust note on the ZO6.....

New stock ZR1 1/4 mile record. That ET and 60' have a lot left in them too.
