Political Compass dot org - where do you stand? (revisited) - John - 12-16-2007

Many of us have taken this quiz many years ago, but times change. So take the quiz and tell us where you stand.

Last time I took it several years ago I was [3,-2.5], and now I'm at [6,-2.5]. I honestly am not sure what prompted the change...

-1.38,-5.95

I actually took it twice. The first time, because I thought I came out further on the economic left than I would've guessed. The second time (which is the score above) was about another point "south-west"...

- Jake - 12-17-2007

Economically, I'm a -1.75
Socially, I'm a -4.10

Yeah, that's about where I identified myself on my own. It's nice to see it split up on the graph though.

- ViPER1313 - 12-17-2007

Economic Left/Right: -4.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.38

- KPWSerpiente - 12-17-2007

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -0.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.10

I have no clue what it means.

- BLINGMW - 12-17-2007

0.88, -3.95

- HAULN-SS - 12-17-2007

Economic Left/Right: 1.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 1.90

But this is bullshit, since there is no "Neither agree nor disagree" option

- BLINGMW - 12-17-2007

yeah, there were a few I was thinking, WTF is this question talking about? Some need a bit more explanation.

That has to be the worst option in surveys... I mean you have to have some regard one way or the other. That shit pisses me off when we get them in our "rate your employer" surveys every year. I'd rather people just be given the option now to answer than to be indecisive.

- BLINGMW - 12-17-2007

ok... how about a, "I don't freakin understand the question" button. And what's wrong with neither agreeing nor disagreeing? You can't be neutral on a subject? "I don't care"?

- HAULN-SS - 12-17-2007

Doesn't matter if it's the worst option, it needs to be an option. There's such a thing as not caring, and they need to account for it.

Really? I mean, there's a lot I seriously don't give a shit about. Smoking outside the building, for example, was a hot topic here. I don't care... at all.

- Apoc - 12-17-2007

Maybe I'm just opinionated but I find it hard to believe that people have absolutely no opinion on a subject. Even if you don't really care in a practical sense, I'd like to think that you'd vote one way or the other when faced with the question.

My sister, who cares more about celebrity dating habits and pregnancy rumors, would answer "i don't care" too pretty much all these... and that's the problem. Not having an opinion generally is an indication of not knowing enough about the subject to form one.

EH? You mean you don't want to get upset about things that don't affect you and force others to do things differently in order to match your personal beliefs? GTFO!

- Ginger - 12-17-2007

I think Chan's got is, Chris. It's not that I'm uneducated (arguable) - it's just that if it doesn't effect me, I don't feel like I need to worry about it.

- Apoc - 12-17-2007

Agreed... however there's a pretty big difference between "worrying about it" and having a passive opinion. Caring enough to take action is a far cry from just plain thinking one way or the other. All this, and others surveys in general, is trying to get you to figure out what you think/believe. It's not asking that you do anything about it or force people to think the same thing, just that you form an opinion.

I'm not going to go to Capitol Hill and lobby for gay adoption rights but I have an opinion about it.
