Crossover SUV opinions.... - JustinG - 11-10-2006 Well my g/f is thinkin gof a new car, her choices, Nissan Murano, Mazda Cx7, and Ford Edge. I know the CX7 and Edge are new, but i was wondering if you guys knew of anyone with any of these cars and knew their opinions on the three. Or your own opinions. I want her to get the Mazda because i have boost rot and its the same drivetrain and power plant as the mazdaspeed 6 but we shall see. Opinions, recommendations are welcome. Ive been doing research for her, but i was curious as to yalls experience/thoughts. CX-7 Edge Murano - HAULN-SS - 11-10-2006 murano = chaching! - Apoc - 11-10-2006 Am I still allowed to offer an opinion if I'm anti-SUV? They all suck. - JustinG - 11-10-2006 well a constructive opinion would be better but ill allow it, and did i mention that she is currently driving an Escort, so anything is an improvement - Feersty - 11-10-2006 Does she have any criteria for what she wants in these vehicles? I have seen the inside of a CX7, its very nice, but I would probably choose the Edge if I had a choice because you see many Muranos and will probably see more CX7s as days go by. - ViPER1313 - 11-10-2006 Mazda 6 Sport Wagon - screw crossovers. - JustinG - 11-10-2006 she wants a crossover suv, and isnt to worried about how many are on the road, she doesnt care if its a common vehicle. Also she just wants Nav & AWD, which they all have. Im just looking to see if there is any personal experience with any of them, or if anyone has some knowledge of any of the vehicles. - JustinG - 11-10-2006 Wagon = Gay, i have to drive this thing to. - Apoc - 11-10-2006 white97dsm Wrote:well a constructive opinion would be better but ill allow it, and did i mention that she is currently driving an Escort, so anything is an improvement I honestly don't want to get into the pro/con SUV debate but I question whether or not she needs one. Yeah they're "pretty" but are any non-SUVs on the list of consideration? Call me crazy, but I thik a Mazda3 and Mazda6 wagons trump the CX-7. P.S. - The Edge would a step down IMO. - Apoc - 11-10-2006 white97dsm Wrote:Wagon = Gay, i have to drive this thing to. So much for that... have fun driving a chick car.... I mean... crossover. - HAULN-SS - 11-10-2006 what about that volvo xC or whatever - JustinG - 11-10-2006 where we live, she needs AWD/4wd, roads dont get cleared out that quicklyif at all. Usually the roads are cleared within 3 days. so that rules out those wagons. does she need an SUV no, but its what she wants. She has looked into other cars, but she wants one of these three. Back on topic please VOLVO = Expensive. she can get one of the mazdas for like 23k - Apoc - 11-10-2006 white97dsm Wrote:where we live, she needs AWD/4wd, roads dont get cleared out that quickly. That always amuses me. Nowhere in VA, unless you live behind a mudbog, needs anything more the FWD. On the outside chance we actually get more than 6" of snow, she should just call in sick. All this from a guy who has an AWD S4, right? I did drive an M3 in a neighborhood that never got plowed for 3 years. Anyway, go Mazda... I've been impressed with their cars as of late. - CaptainHenreh - 11-10-2006 CX-7's are pretty nice automobiles. The engine is very nice, trans is good, although I wish it had a manual. Handled decent for a vehicle its size, all around good car. I was impressed by it. I say CX-7. - JustinG - 11-10-2006 thanks rex, pretty roomy rear seat and cargo area? - ScottyB - 11-10-2006 white97dsm Wrote:where we live, she needs AWD/4wd, roads dont get cleared out that quickly. before i get back on topic (this is MM remember) if the snow is so deep that a regular car with 6-8 inches of clearance can't drive through it, it's probably too dangerous to be out anyway. i lived in roanoke, very mountainous so i have some experience. but it's her car so i digress.... i'd go mazda. muranos have a silly big blind spot and i think the CX's performance is better than the ford for the money. how expensive are nissan FX35s? that might be an option. - JustinG - 11-10-2006 i only want her to have AWD for safety, she commutes 45 minutes to work everyday, it starts to snow midday, i dont want her to have to drive home in 2 in of snow without AWD. Its mainly for if she needs it its there. Also, she would have this car when im outta school and we are living together, so it would kinda be "our" car. But on a side note, the GSX will still be solely mine. - Apoc - 11-10-2006 white97dsm Wrote:i dont want her to have to drive home in 2 in of snow without AWD. lol... AWD doesn't keep you on the road, it only keeps you from getting stuck. That's a huge misconception among SUV owners and why I see them on the side of the road every winter. FWD in 2" of snow is perfectly safe. Shit, my wife grew up in Vermont and she drove a Jetta. Sorry, I'm officially done being OT. - JustinG - 11-10-2006 i know that AWD doesnt keep you on the road, im not saying it does, but would you be more confortable driving in the snow in a FWD car or an AWD car? - Evan - 11-10-2006 of those three, the cx-7 sucks the least but if she wants one that has AWD and pimpy interior but doesnt look like shit and doesnt make her look like a soccer mom: |
